Just wondering how many out there have zero college education and is making a decent/good living? How much would you considered a "decent" living?

I can tell you right now, many of those that will be sucessful without a college degree are from past generations..having said that, if you want to go into sales, you can make a ton of money if you are good at it, regardless of education

Don't expect much in the way of career advancement if you go into sales. Plus your paycheck is at the mercy of your success. Look forward to a rollercoaster ride.

I don't have a college degree, and am making a decent wage for a single person.

Insert obligatory "my grandpa never had a day of formal schooling in his life and now he's a billionaire; if he can do it, everyone can" statement.

Statistical outliers FTW

I sense you are trying to make an excuse to avoid college. Go to college. It sure beats the hell out of working full time. When I worked full time I got home at 6pm and had two weeks vacation per year. Now I get home at 12pm and get maybe around 4 months vacation per year.

IMO you're a lazier person if you go to college. The increased salary afterwards is just icing on the cake.

You get 80 days of vacation a year? And when do you start work to get home by noon?

Agreed sales can be difficult and bumpy, but if you don't have a college degree, this is a great option. I know many very successful salespeople who did not go to college and they are making in the $200-500K range. Not bad for no college. Heck, even though I went to college, I am primarily a salesman. Your paycheck being at the mercy of your success is actually what drives salespeople. :)

But if choosing between college and no college, I definitely endorse college mainly because of the life experiences, contacts, friendships, and structures for thought that come from higher studies.

When was I barely making sense at P&N? When I first joined I had been working on some political-oriented research and was probably more on top of things than I am now. Maybe you just disagreed with me? :p

The trades are a great area to go into without a college degree.

Good money, great benefits, plenty of advancement. Only downside is you're going to bust your ass.

Does one semester of college count? After that I dropped out and joined the Navy. After I got out of the Navy a few years ago I enrolled in a local university for the fall quarter and applied to a few jobs at the local electric utilities at the same time. Suffice to say I got offered a job and haven't gone back to school yet. Despite my desire for a college education, the income from my job is just too good to give up, it's in the low 100k's. I recommend the electric utility trades to anyone who wants a good job with virtual guaranteed employment, such as lineman, wireman, meterman, relaytech, system operator, etc. But be warned though, you will work your ass of in this industry.

I have no education, generally it isn't a problem unless a company does background check

I'm doing alright. Bills are paid, and money isn't that tight. I'm also about to start going to college and doing so will not incur any debt (college is all paid for).

I'm successfull in the military so far without much college, however even in the enlisted ranks, college becomes important for advancement. I plan on going back to school when I get out at the end of the year.

Follow your passion. Those who just go through the motions of college to get the degree without any genuine interest in or passion for the field are typically the ones who can't get a job after graduation or don't try very hard to find one then end-up working at Home Depot because its easy with little responsibility.

At the moment, I'm 3 credits short of a 2 year degree, in a field I'm not too interested in. I just need to take an Algebra CLEP to be eligible for the degree.

My computer related courses start at the end of this month, and I should have another occupational degree by the middle of June 08. I looked at going into nursing, but it didn't fit my time table, despite being a very good career.
