I can't get the sound on my computer to work. I have a Diamond MX300. I haven't tried installing Diamond's drivers yet. Where is a good place to get the latest reference drivers? A better question is: what drivers are you using? Thanks for the help guys.

Spooooon, I have a Diamond Monster Sound MX300 sound card running on Windows 2000 with no problems. I'm using the Aureal drivers that Windows 2000 detects during the Win2K install. It's called "Aureal Vortex 8830 Audio (WDM)" in the Device Manager.

Do you mean no problem at all?? because I have a generic Vortex 2 card install in Win2kpro with the default driver and I got no sound from the rear speakers.

Whatever you do don't install the beta drivers from aureal. It takes a lot work to get them to work and it's a HUGE pain in the ass. When you install win2k it should install drivers that come with win2k. I had that with my win2k and MX300.

I too am using the MX300 with the included Win2K drivers. I *think* my rears are working, particularly when I'm dealing with stereo (left & right only) sound. I think the card sends the same info to both front and rear speakers in that mode. I could be wrong (not in Win2K to check right now).

I went ahead and bought a cheap sound card. A Maxi Sound MUSE. DON'T BUY IT. Right now, I can't get the rear channels to play. The drivers really suck. There is no fade control or anything like that. That's what I get for trying to save a little money... :(

The beta drivers from aureal are not that hard to install.
You just need the proper instructions.
Ive got them running with a3d v3.12 without much difficulty.

The best help i found was from this page on vortex of sound
www.vortexofsound.com/drivers/drv_v2wdm.htm

its a bit of mucking around, but its worth it to get a3d back.
