I am interested in buying a Hauppauge TV tuner (preferably stereo - not the Win TV Theatre) and I have a KT133 chipset (look in my signature). I read in the Hauppauge FAQ that there are some issues with these TV tuners and some VIA chipsets. So, did you have any problems with your KT133 based system?
The same question about these TV tuners and Soundblaster Live 5.1 (heard some things about incompatibilities between Live! family sound cards and TV tuners in general).
Thank you in advance.

I'll get one for my KT133 next week (hopefully) and will tell you how it works. My old Hauppauge card with a BT848 chip didn't work with my K7T Pro2 but a newer KNC One TV-card with BT878 did, but I'm not so happy with its picture quality anymore, so I switch back to Hauppauge. Anyway, I never had problems with the Hauppauge/SB Live! combo and my old Hauppauge card works very well in all Via MVP3 boards I tried. I had somme issues with my Geforce though, but the Geforce is on the shelf now...

Hi there,
I have a Hauppauge WinTV PCI and it works, but with some problems. I have a MSI K7T Pro2a. The problem is, that I sometimes, can't start Wintv 2000(application for watching TV). Then, just a BSOD appears with 0:1000000 or something. But it happens about once out of 10 or 15 times, so it's not such a big problem for me. I don't know if the card has problems with the Chipset or whatever. I also re-addressed the ressources for my card, but it still appears. Just for your information, but I'm kinda happy with the card.

ndee,

do you have an old WinTV PCI card with a BT848 chip or a new one? I never got my "old-style" WinTV PCI to work on my K7T Pro2 at all...

i've got the Hauppauge WinTV Primio card, and the Abit KT7 (KT133 chipset) and it works fine for me, the only problem i get is when i move the pc around and the infra-red plug comes out and when i start up i get "Cannot Initialize IR Hardware" but plugging it in makes it work perfectly :D

no problems from here

Thank you for your replies and comments. You were really helpful
I have one more question though.
Is anyone using Win Millenium? I read a post in another forum where 2 guys were having big problems with their Hauppauge TVtuner and WinMe.
Thanks again.

I have a WinTV Theatre I bought a while ago, took it from my old system for my current system, says Win/TV 878/9 VFW in my device manager. Works flawlessly in Win2K, don't have it installed under WinME, so I can't help you there. Great Win2K support though.

Thanks to everyone. I think that I will go for it finally.
I don't really want to install WinMe, Win98SE are simply OK, but you never know.
I must say that I am searching a lot about this type of card because I already have a TV tuner (Leadtek Winview TV-FM).It is very good BUT I can't install Detonator 3 drivers for my graphics card, nor the Creative software for the sound card. Leadtek hasn't released drivers for this card since 1998 and I am sure that it's a software problem (have tried anything else). So now I want to be sure that the new TV tuner is OK with compatibility and support.

Just wanted to say my new WinTV PCI-FM works perfect on my K7T Pro2 now, but only in 16bit mode. The KNC One also worked in 32bit mode. The Hauppauge's picture quality is better though.

I've got an older stb tvpci. It's a pci card (shocker) with a bt848kpf chipset on it. Was using a kt-7 and duron which was fine with my v5 5500. Yanked 5500 and installed a geforce 2 card, now get dll errors when trying to launch tv tuner sw.

Have tried all of the drivers still available for stb tvpci but doesn't work.

Question is - is there anything that will work with a bt848kpf card? Using ME. Missing watching simpsons while I work.

thanks!

i have a different brand BT848 based tv tuner card (pixelview) and it does run in win2k (Msi Kt7pro2A) but the win2k tv drivers aren't very good. It drops out alot and quality seems worse than in win98.

*sigh* i am wonderng whether to ditch it and get a Hauppauge tv tuner or replace my video card (currently a TNT) also with something like a raedon all in wonder card.
