I got mine at Rutgers.

I work in Logistics doing the same thing I could have done out of undergrad. The only differerence is that I got a higher initial offer and people take me more seriously after they find out I have a masters. Also the other managers on my floor treat me a little better then the rest or the new hires (they do things like stop by my desk and talk for a little bit, joke around with me, and ask how things are going on the job for me, one of them even tried to steal me away from my current boss).

It was worth it for me because I really enjoy what I was studying, the comraderie with my class mates, and the ability to abuse undergrads as a TA (I hate most undergrads, I even hated myself as an undergrad).

How much does GPA matter vs. work experience and letters of recommendation? I am in engineering grad school now but could see myself wanting to go the MBA route at some point in the future. My concern is getting beat out by some liberal arts major who managed to get a 4.0 because they took all fluff classes. I guess what I am saying is that since MBA applicants come from all different backgrounds, how heavily does the GPA weigh in the decision, and do they even take into account the difficulty of all your previous education?

I had a 2.72 in undergrad with a Psychology major and History minor. I came out of my MBA with a 3.92.

I have my MBA in finance from a smaller school. I worked for a timeshare securitization issuer, then moved to Capital One doing the same, and I am starting a new job in 9 days with a boutique investment bank in NYC, all within 3 and a half years.

I personally loved my MBA experience, it got me into a field I had never considered before. While I think my CFA charter taught me more about finance, the MBA has been a nice vehicle to get me on track for a great career.

When you get in, study hard and come out with a high GPA while making good friends. It'll pay off in the long run.

What school?

Florida International University.

My wife's (girlfriend at the time) dad had cancer, they lived in SoFLA, so we moved down there to be closer to them. It cut me off from better schools, but the school isn't what makes the person.

But the school is what make your network. Which can be extremely important.

Congrat on getting a job so fast after moving to NYC.
