I'm planning on getting a speaker system from Paradigm. The front towers alone go for $700USD so i guess that makes them pretty good speakers :D Anyway, i heard they are incredibly sensitive and pick up EVERYTHING on the recording. Right now i'm thinking that electronic music might not sound that great on them since a lot of it isn't very high quality - especially the live mixes and such. So now i'm not so sure about those speakers. Does anyone out there own a good system and listen to electronic music on it? What do you think of the quality? What should i do?

I like Crown & Castle components, Kef speakers. I especially love Kef speakers, in general they are great all around speakers.

I will sell you my Klipsch for less since I am not going to be using them anymore. I have played all types of music and quality of recordings through them and they are great.

You guys aren't lisetning. What i'm trying to figure out is if trance sounds like sh!t on high quality super-sensitive monitor speakers.

What I am saying is that I will sell you a really good set of speakers that I am not using and save you some money. These are not computer speakers either.

Thanks bud, but i'm going to get a Canadian system. Most likely Paradigm, maybe PSB. I can get insane deals on them here, like 30% less than in US.

LOL typical; bose bashers go out and buy something that has comparatively better value, yet dismiss DIY speakers all together.
*sigh*

<< Viperoni, what do you think of HTD's? level 3's to be exact. >>

Link?

I doubt they could beat these little $100 a pair Dayton HT sats though :)
BTW: I'm in the middle of building the dual woofer center channel version of those right now :D

They dont look too bad at all, and those drivers look kinda like TangBand's......the same kind used in the Logitech Z560's.....pretty decent drivers (very smooth, extended response).

If you wanna nice DIY kit with prefabricated, custom made enclosures, and very detailed instrucions, and Dipole surrounds, the Vance Dickason HT kit is sweet.
A guy I know out in Manitoba is slowly building himself a complete set :)

paradigm is a great company, most audio publications rave about all the paradigm line because of the great price/performance ratio.

I have the atoms and they sound great with any type of music. big drivers mean nothing i think my atoms have 4 and 1/2 inch woofers. its the sound that matters.

paradigms and other good quality speakers are revealing. that is not a bad thing though. You will hear the recording like it was meant to be heard. im sure live dj mixes would be fine as long as they were mixed and mastered well.

I admit from what I saw, it's not *that* bad, but the cabinet could have been braced a bit more, the drivers (at least the tweeter anyway) are good, but the crossovers are piss poor. It's hold back the speaker so much, it's not even funny.

If you were to build good crossovers, using quality parts, for say a pair of atoms, I wouldn't be surprised if they could keep up with a pair of mini monitors or even even the studio 20's in terms of sound quality.

That's why North Creek Music sells a crossover replacement kit for the NHT Super Zero's: Text

Good choice.
Electronic music of all tastes come across clean through paradigms.

paradigm are great speakers. however, compare them side by side with psb (alpha avs maybe?) and see if its worth the extra money. oh and check out mission speakers. i have missions and theyre pretty good. cheap in canadia too ive been told. oh and i wouldnt worry about having low quality music on high quality speakers. its only gonna sound worse on low quality speakers. think about it. low quality recording and low quality speakers cant give you good sound. good luck.
