Oh yeah. The great thing about IBM's eBayStore is 1) you are buying directly from IBM not Vinny in New York and 2) it's new but old stuff, brand new but a few months old models.

Hopefully by March 2003 this beauty will drop a few hundred $. That is the PERFECT laptop for me, major drooling going on right now.

that is a nice one... personally though, i'm a fan of the x-series. 12.1 but goddamn those things are so tight... some of the noc guys here have them and they're so convenient... so small and light... 3.5 pounds and 1 inch! yowza.

I've got a 2Ghz Dell C840 Latitude Lappy. It works great and I'm really impressed by it. I've had this about 3 weeks now and the screen is really impressive. DVDs look awesome on it and the cd burner is pretty fast (DVD/CDRW Combo drive). I would recommend not getting an Inspiron. Those tend to have more problems for some reason. The latitudes are usually heavier, but they're a lot more rugged. Other people at work have Latitudes...mostly C640s and they're very high quality. One of my friends had one drop out of his backpack when he was running through an airport. He started it up when he got on the plane and the only problem was with the case....it had cracked the plastic. The rest of the laptop worked perfectly. We called Dell and they replaced it....I think it was even covered by the complete care service agreement. Even if it weren't, it's still running and working fine. I used it today. :p
