anyone with 150fsb that finish prime 95

here is my setup
shuttle ak31 v3.1 with 1.4g tbird, 256m pc2100 crucial ddr, radeon 64mddr vivo, 2ibm75gxp 30g in raid 0, pioneer 10xdvd, yamaha 4416cdrw, copper hsf. temp is around 50c.

bios with default 133 @1400, it pass prime95 no problems.
bios set to 150fsb, 10x@1500, rise the ddr voltage to 2.6v, cpu core to 1.8v. it boots but it crash on prime 95.

any help here?
 
Suggestion #1: Don't use prime cause it sucks for stability testing.
Suggestion #2: Use burnk7.exe from cpuburn to see how stable your system really is cause this program will make your system work MUCH harder than prime95 ever could.

CPUBurn evokes higher temperatures, but in my experience it isnt even remotely as good as Prime95 as stressing your processor to it's absolute limits. I've seen countless scenarios wherein a system is rock solid under CPUBurn but won''t last minutes under Prime.

Watch your RAM closely, Prime is extremely sensitive to the stability of your RAM as well as your processor. If your RAM is at all unstable then it will fail in Prime quite quickly, even if your processor is perfectly stable.

Sure, I can routinely do it with a FSB far in excess of 150MHz.

I have been running at 165 for quite awhile with the KG7-R, and have completed the Prime95 torture test. I have 2 256MB sticks of Crucial PC2100 set at 16-8-8-2-6-2-1-2-2-2.

I like to test for stability with all background programs running along with Prime95 and UT set to spectator mode with at least 10 bots/999 frag limit.

My system lasted 24 hours with Prime. It didn't last a minute with cpuburn. It makes sense - since the temps are higher, the processor must do more work and you can find subtle instabilities fast. Cpuburn does some calculations, and it also checks the result of them just like prime95 does so it can report back to you, but 99% of the time the system is under heavy pressure so even the smallest mistake makes it reboot. I would consider prime95 a better ram test, but then again, memtest86 is even better than that.
 
Prime95 is probably the better overall system tester, as it isn't solely focused on the CPU.

CPUBurn, on the other hand, is a "cpu -max-heater" and certainly pushes a CPU itself harder than prime95. There are cases where CPUBurn is great, ie Heatsink/Grease testing.

I have to run my RAM voltage at 2.94V to hit 165 at the settings I mentioned. I also had to run at 2.9V with the 8K7A+ for high FSB OCing. It may be that 2.6V is not doing the trick for you. I have run 64MB Radeon VIVOs, the 7500, and currently the 8500 with no problems. I'm not sure about your IBM HDs since I run Maxtor DM+ 60 drives. I also always remove the Northbridge HSF and apply Arctic Silver on my boards.

EDIT: You could also try bumping your processor voltage to 1.85V if you can get your temps reduced some. What kind of copper HSF are you using, and which fan? How is your case set for airflow? It could be any number of things. If you are running your RAM at CAS2, try CAS2.5.
 
i lower it to 9.5x150, looks good.
but no luck with 166 even if i lower the multiplier, could it be the 1/4 pci divider case???

this ak31, not epox k8kh+.
 
You need to give more DDR voltage, I am running 2.9v at a 167MHz fsb. Prime 95 is no problem for my system. Lower your multiplier and raise the fsb (9 x 150 = 1350MHz) and then try. If you finish then you know it is your cpu that is unstable at 1500Mhz. If not then it could be your RAM timings or other high fsb related problem, but at least you will narrow it down.
