I dated a girl who was born in Vietnam and she hated how the Vietnamese language sounded. She also spoke Cantonese which she far preferred over Vietnamese.

on another note, i too find vietnamese funky sounding, probably because i dont understand it since my parents chose to speak chinese instead of vietnamese at home.
