Anyone wear an ICE bracelet?

GasX

Lifer
I was thinking of having one made for when I am diving and/or away from home. Something simple from here or here is what I had in mind. Do any of you have one of these?

FYI - ICE = In Case of Emergency
Bracelet would have family phone numbers on it. Possibly blood type, etc...

If you're working out, wouldn't the ice melt? 😛

I have my cell phone programmed with ICE phone numbers.

This is why I love ATOT. I may eventually get something useful out of this thread, but not until a healthy amount of amusing drivel has been posted...

It seems like a good idea to me, though I think I'd prefer an all-metal one versus the two you linked to. The first one is way too stylish ala LiveStrong and the second one would smell like poo after a few months of wear.

Don't trust the cell phone. It didn't work when I went to the hospital.

Don't remember exactly what happened because of a concussion and minor memory loss, but crashed my motorcycle and woke up in a hospital room. Bike went to a yard and everything else went into "storage" or whatever they called it, including my cell phone. Apparently they asked me for emergency contacts (I vaguely remember someone asking me this) and I gave them my girlfriend's name and my own phone number. So, I have a lovely voicemail on my own phone from the hospital informing my girlfriend that I am currently in the hospital and alive and well.

Being a dumbass with a cell phone, I don't remember phone numbers anymore, so I spent a day in the hospital before they finally got around to giving me all of my belongings and I pulled out my cell phone. Called the GF and let her know I was ok and where I was for the last two days.

Anyway, don't trust the cell phone. Besides, what if it breaks? Can't get numbers off of it anymore. Anyway, I just rock one of those generic dog tags you can get done at a pet store machine for a couple of bucks.

Oh, PSA, when you go in through the ambulance, everyone gets a "doe" name. I was Hank Doe. Remember flagging a nurse down in a moment of consciousness while on the gurney telling them it wasn't my name.

I wear my Road ID when I cycle!

Got my brother in law one for the holidays, he's a runner ... loves it.

No, but I have a card with that same information in my wallet. I also have an "ICE" contact in my phone. Paramedics will look for this stuff when they come for you, so it's a good idea to have it.

This.

When I got in my accident, the ambulance lady checked my phone for an ICE number.

the up-down joystick on my phone is borked, so it would be a pain for anyone to find the ICE numbers.. i do have a simple card with numbers in my wallet as well.

LMAO...true story.

I've thought about getting one because I run outside A LOT.

I do have ICE numbers on my phone.

I got a dog tag from boomerangtags.com. They're supposed to be better than the pet store kind because they're stainless steel so they last longer.

I was convinced after reading some of the Road ID testimonials on their site. If you get in an accident paramedics usually won't go through your stuff like your wallet and your phone and you'll probably end up in the hospital as John Doe. Another benefit is even if you're conscious when they find you they can ask you your name and address and see if you can recall your basic information.

Put your medicine allergies on it, not your blood type. That matters a whole lot more to me when I am working on someone in the field. In the ER, they will type and cross-match you anyway before giving blood products.

Also, none of the paramedics around here will usually go in your wallet, but folks in ER will.
