I still don't get why Dilana didn't win.

I think it is just as simple as the band not being able to get past the idea of having a metal / hard rock band with a female lead singer. She has an AWESOME voice and a great stage presence and just blew away everyone else for most of the competition.

A female lead would have given the band something different to set themselves apart. With Lucas as their frontman, they are going to sound like everyone else in the genre.

Lukas sucks. I was excited to possibly go see them if Toby or Magni won, b/c I'm a big Newstead fan. However I'm not sure I can handle 2 hours of Lukas' spasms, headshaking, and drunk stagering stumbles across the stage. It's like all these old school rock guys want to be emo/punk now. I still can't believe Newstead didn't pick Magni, or heck, even Dilana. I think Tommy had the biggest say in the group and he likes to think he's cool and hip so he took emo Lukas. Booooo

I almost think that the Gilby, Tommy, and Jason were worried that somebody like Dilana, Toby, or even Magni, might have enough charisma to swing the spotlight onto themselves.

I gotta think that Lukas is going to get a lot less press than somebody interesting like Dilana or Tony would. I totally would have bought their album if anybody other than Lukas was the front man. I didn't like his voice from the beginning and he hasn't made me change my mind.

Those are some interesting points. I think Toby was a huge favorite and it is possible that he was very charismatic and may have taken spotlight away from Gilby and Tommy (I don't think Newstead has an ego like the other 2). With Lukas it can be all about them. And Dilanna's big mouth, I never thought about that, but it is possible it came into consideration.

You are naive if you think that whole bit wasn't done by the show's producers to bring either her down a notch because she was running away with the fans support or just create some backstage drame - it is, after all, a reality show.

When there were about 7 people left, my wife asked if I was going to pick up their new cd... I said, "Definitely. Well, unless Lukas wins. I can't stand that guy."
