This is going to be great for the commute home. . .

the pasao bridge is closed, i heard
if you live north of the river, go east to 435 or west to whatever bridges are west, but I-35 and Front St are all closed

I saw this breaking on CNN an hr ago. It's amazing. Supposedly the black smoke is dropping some precipitation as well... i wouldn't want to be in that city (good thing i carry a med kit in my car that includes N95 masks).

One of the guys I used to work with had some pictures of it on facebook. They were crappy camera phone pics and only show smoke. He works in an office just down the street from there.

Its Front Street.

Man, I'd be getting the hell out of Kansas City right now...

it isn't that bad, our building is in downtown which is just a couple miles south of the fire. i left about 3:30 pm and stopped at the bank and then came over to our other building on the southeast side of town, it is just a big plume of smoke

The City of Kansas City, Missouri and the EPA have been monitoring the situation. About 4:30 today they held a press conference to notify the local residents and businesses that there is little to no toxicity in the smoke cloud. If you are bothered by breathing conditions, like asthma, you might treat this like you would on a poor air quality day.
