it is significantly different from the conan doyle tradition, sherlock, or even the downey jr stuff. right now they have kept it small stakes, intimate relationshipy, after-the-fact crime procedural. Sherlock is more like mini movies with life and death stakes so they tend to go in broader strokes.
i dont mind where they are at right now, the irene addler episode this week is coming in a just the right time given the pace they've set so far.
the only thing i kinda find missing is where Mycroft would fit in to this incarnation. it feels like the father has been morphed into a surrogate for the establishment and expectations that Holmes has traditionally rebelled against in the form of his brother.
