Anyone watch Star Trek: Axanar (the prelude)?

Geez that was awesome quality. Was totally expecting mediocre to crap. Excited to see the rest now.

Yeah, that was really good preview. I'll definitely watch the full movie when the full production is finished.

I can't believe I'd never heard of this before. NONE of the sites I frequent had any mention of this kickstarter going on. They could have pulled in even more money if they had. I'd have chipped in.

I know, I was surprised at the same thing. I happened to stumble across it on I blastr.com, iirc.

Seems like they've glossed over a pretty damn huge issue with their film - they currently don't have the rights from CBS to do it.

They conveniently say "we know how to do it....." but the fact remains that they don't yet have the rights. In fact, I'm surprised they aren't in trouble for releasing the 20 minute short, and I'm surprised that KickStarter is allowing them to kickstart when they aren't up to snuff legally.

I hope they pull it off. That was a pretty cool video, and the CGI was decent for a film with that budget.

Digdog - I can't find anywhere on line that talks about the '4 year war'. There were a couple different Klingon / Federation conflicts but none in the current timeline appear to be that long. I wonder if the authors have placed it in the new timeline created by the new Trek movies.

they probably have an agreement that "do the short, if you manage to, we (CBS) will sell you the rights for a fat cut".

it wouldn't be a first.

Meh. Still seem very amateurish. And not even in the ways that are out of their control- it's technically proficient.

But the execution is shit. Don't get internet nerds to do your voiceovers. Lose the campy 2D graphics flyings across the screen. Don't hire shit actors like 'that shitty Vulcan from Enterprise' or 'that shitty guy who's not Michael Clarke Duncan' and then direct them...shittily.

Nerds really will splooge over anything that is a technical success...even if it's...shitty.

That was pretty horrid. If it stays on YouTube maybe, but anywhere else, no.

I kept looking around trying to figure out which professional wrestler was playing the Klingon.

...dear god, it's Richard Hatch. Bahahaha.

Terribad.

So Jake Sisko goes back in time and grows up to become a Federation Admiral... whoop de doo.

Wait, was that him? For some reason the old man from that time travel episode from DS9 with Jake is etched in my mind like he should have grown up to look like that lol.

So is this going to be an actual feature length film or more like a documentary?
I watched the youtube link and while cool it reminded me more of Nova on PBS than an actual movie.

It sounds like it'll be a feature length film. I'm not sure if it'll be released on youtube, DVD, or what, however. I just think it's a unique perspective (documentary) on the Trek universe. I look forward to it. Hell, I'd actually pay more to see this than I would an Abrams film.
