It's about surviving situations that people find themselves in, like surviving a plane crash in the Alaskan wilderness, a row boat that gets sucked out to sea by strong rip currents, or climbing down the Swiss Alps thru an intense electrical storm.
The Swiss Alps one was terrifying Imagine being thousands of feet up and climbing down the side of the Swiss Alps? AT NIGHT! No The wind is lashing at your back. An intense electrical storm surrounds you. Lightening strikes everywhere. Then, being stuck on a small ledge huddled under a survival tent. No food, drink. It's below freezing. Crazy.
Or, being stuck in the Amazon rainforest and you're fighting malaria. No way out. You're being hunted by bandits. You have to kill and eat this stray cute dog who followed you, but is now your din din because you need substance to survive. You can't keep food down because the malaria is slowly killing you.
