fullers attention to visuals and ostentatious displays like the mushroom garden and antler racks are pretty evident.

new episode tonight, up against a POI rerun on cbs

also new community ep.

Its the tone of the show that I didnt expect from him, but I agree the about the imagery. When I was watching it I kinda recognized his style, but the show is so dark I didnt put 2 and 2 together. Although in thinking about it now, the Hannibal character brings some lightness to the show, in a very twisted way. Every time you see him eat you have to wonder... hahaha

are you are talking about the reporter and the scene that followed with him and fishburn eating the 'pork' tenderloin? yeah that had my attention for 15 min wondering if she was alive or dead.

that's also why i asked if this is cannon to the novels, since it would make lector a bit of a copycat of the guy in the first episode.

This is too good of a show to last on NBC. Kinda surprising that this is produced by Bryan Fuller, who did Pushing Daisies, Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me.

Since it's a Fuller show, I just wonder how long it will be until it's cancelled. I can't recall a single one of his shows, and other than Star Trek, I've seen them all, that didn't get cancelled after season two. :\

I've only seen the first episode of Hannibal, but I'm pretty certain that the brunette that knows the quirky FBI guy is the same actress that played the main character in Wonderfalls. Just looked her up, and damn... I'm good! 😉

Yeah. And even the scene where he brought Graham eggs and "sausages". I thought he copycatted the first guy to show Graham that killers true nature. But its not clear if Hannibal was a canibal before that point. It looks like Hannibal ate his victims lungs, but he could have been doing that for years. I never read the books, so I dont know when it started for him.

Wow, she grew up nice. She looked familiar to me, but I couldnt place her. Its been awhile since I watched Wonderfalls. I hope this series at least gets its full 13 episodes. Fuller's shows tend to go downhill once he leaves them, so I would be happy with one great season.

Oh, and Heroes was 4 or 5 seasons. And you can tell when he was involved, because those parts are when it was good. lol

I looked Fuller up, and his Wikipedia page has a chart with his frequent castings:

Even with Fuller's involvement, I think that Heroes should have ended after season one... or stopped trying to push some characters so much that ended up with them in contrived story lines. :\

Holy shit, Ellen Muth is on Hannibal (guest starring, I'm guessing?)? She hasn't done anything major in years.

Fun Fact: Gina Torres is Laurence Fishburne's real life wife, IIRC.

I just read on IGN that NBC will not be airing one of the episodes of Hannibal in the United States because the episode deals with kids killing kids. There's a little more to it than that, but I'll avoid mentioning anything else that I read to keep up any suspense! NBC said something about them putting a collection of clips online about the missing episode that will include overarching story details along with commentary from Bryan Fuller. If that's not satisfactory for you or you find the nature of self-censoring a TV show as silly as I do, fortunately, as some probably guessed based on my selective bolding, the episode will be aired overseas.

If you also watch Castle, one of its episodes will not air as intended either. Unlike Hannibal, it will be pushed back a week and the episode that was supposed to air that week will be moved up. The episode of Castle deals with a bombing.

Yeah I just read that too Aik. I wonder if they will show the episode in full up here? Regardless, I will find a way to watch it as I do find the self-censoring ridiculous as you do.

They should... I remember there was an episode of Buffy that didn't air in the US of A, but did on schedule in Canada.

I looked up some of the details about its broadcast in Canada, and it looks like it's on CityTV, which is owned by Rogers. So, unless their deal with NBC includes some weird clause that NBC chooses to invoke to avoid them showing it, it should air. Also, I saw that CityTV will begin airing Hannibal on Wednesday night starting next week. So, if you want to watch the show a day earlier, it should "become available" online. It's sort of like how Castle always "becomes available" around 7PM on Monday nights for me when the show airs at 9PM, and I'm pretty certain they are captured from CityTV.

Ah cool, good stuff. I was hoping for that. I'll have to make sure my DVR is picking up the City feed.

KT

I saw that note about how CityTV's showing it on Wed from now on. Mr. Google didn't say anything about a move by NBC, so that was werd.

Hmm, weird. Did not notice that. I'll have to take a look at my guide. :hmm:

lol There's really only one reason people in the US would know about CityTV. CityTV probably gets better ratings around the world than they do in Canada!

Next weeks episode is getting pulled by NBC, will air overseas

After several particularly violent months in America, NBC has decided to pull episode four of frosh drama “Hannibal” from its lineup due to the disturbing content involving children murdering other children.

Fourth episode of the grisly serial killer drama featured Molly Shannon’s character brainwashing kids, leading them to kill other children.

Episode four was slated to air next week. Peacock will instead move directly to episode five. While the drama is serialized, NBC claims there will be no continuity issues, noting that TV critics have seen episodes three and five, and not four.

Decision arose after series creator Bryan Fuller phoned NBC and told the net that, “given the cultural climate right now in the U.S., I think we shouldn’t air the episode in its entirety.”

“I didn’t want to have anyone come to the show and have a negative experience,” Fuller told Variety. “Whenever you [write] a story and look at the sensational aspects of storytelling, you think, ‘This is interesting metaphorically, and this is interesting as social commentary.’ With this episode, it wasn’t about the graphic imagery or violence. It was the associations that came with the subject matter that I felt would inhibit the enjoyment of the overall episode. … It was my own sensitivity.”

Fuller cited the Sandy Hook shooting in December and this week’s Boston Marathon bombings as the root of this sensitivity issue. “Hannibal,” from Gaumont Intl., was filmed before the events in Newtown, Conn., had transpired.

By pulling episode four from the lineup, NBC has effectively bumped the frosh season of “Hannibal” up a week. The season finale for “Hannibal,” originally slated for June 27, will now be on June 20.

Incident is just another example of TV execs and creatives pulling content in the wake of violent events over the last few months. This week, ABC pushed an episode of “Castle” where Detective Kate Beckett steps on a pressure-sensitive bomb to April 29, though Alphabet may push the episode even further if it is still deemed too insensitive given recent events.

What’s more, after the Sandy Hook shooting, Syfy yanked an episode of “Haven,” which featured a school violence storyline. TLC delayed one-off “Best Funeral Ever” and Fox pulled episodes of its Sunday night toon skeins “Family Guy” and “American Dad” that execs felt were inappropriate given what had occurred in Connecticut days earlier.

Fans of “Hannibal” will still be able to see clips from episode four, however. NBC is making a package of clips from the yanked episode available on NBC.com next week. It focuses on character development and not the procedural element featured in episode four of “Hannibal.” Package will feature Fuller offering voice over and discussing the series.

“This is also a great opportunity to provide another platform for the show that can draw audiences to social media and give them original content that’s not just a behind-the-scenes special, but a webisode featuring the primary cast, which is a rare thing to get on the net,” Fuller explained.

But, mostly, Fuller said, “We want to be respectful of the social climate we’re in right now.”

Peacock notes that the fourth episode will run overseas, but not in the States.

I don't know if it's much of a spoiler if any at all, but that second paragraph is what I specifically avoided mentioning here. So, you may want to put spoiler tags around it just in case.

It looks like Canada aired episode five (titled "Coquilles") tonight instead of episode four. I haven't seen episode four pop-up anywhere yet, but I haven't looked too hard either.

Dafuq? Damn. Guess they're just following NBC's schedule then. It was still a good episode.

Welp. They don't want to let me see this "banned" episode.

That's okay...because Sickbeard is downloading the Canadian "version" anyway.

What is the name of the banned episode supposed to be?

I hope foreign outlets still get it. That's super lame. They showed a girl with Down's Syndrome shooting up a school on Glee, but I can't fucking see kids killing kids on hannibal?

Teh madness!

looks like they are giving it the hbo/bbc approach: 13 ep seasons, limited runs. according to wikipedia they will get to red dragon arc in season 4. Clarice Starling is supposed to show up later if they can get the rights.

13-episode seasons seem pretty common for hour-long cable shows, which is similar to how half-hour shows are only 24-26 episodes per season. Although, I noticed that CBS has been randomly interspersing reruns in between their new episodes. For example, their Monday comedies were all reruns this week, but their Thursday comedies are new. Last week, it was the exact opposite of that. I wonder if they're trying to artificially elongate the season?

I didn't watch the episode yet, but I'm pretty sure it was given that's how The Scene labeled it.

I'm very disappointed in this show.

Having read the books, Hannibal is a very complex character, and very much influenced by his life experiences. In the show, he seems to be nothing more than an empty shell, doing horrible things only because he can. I realize it's only been three episodes, but he needs some character development, STAT.
