Anyone watch Deadliest Warrior on Spike TV?

First week as Apache vs Gladiator
This week was Samurai vs Viking

Kind of interesting show. It's crazy how powerful the old weapons were. Of course they are in a lab and the target isn't moving or fighting back. But their skills are still very impressive.

The one dude shot at a head with his samurai bow and arrow and nailed the thing in both eyes with 2 shots....yes, right in the EYE!
The vking could throw 2 long spears at the same time and it actually pierced though 8 inches of wood block hanging from the ceiling
They had Chuck Liddell put on the spiked gloves of a gladiator and punch a side of beef. Then put on a "scissor" or something like that (a big metal arm with a blade on the end) and hit literally cut the side of beef in half with one strike
The Apache guy could also throw 3 kill shots with his knife in about 3 seconds...he was really fast!

Haven't seen it yet, but definitely will. It's on youtube, not sure if there is a better streaming version somewhere.

Damnit, I keep telling myself to watch the show but I constantly forget

Same. I think it's because it is on Spike.

Need to set my DVR.

My problem with spike is that I'm so sick of those fucking GGW commercials.

My roommate and I had a long (kinda) discussion trying to figure out how many more shows they can do. There really aren't much more options to pick from, are there?

I can't wait to see a pirate episode.

It's hilarious to watch the 'arguments' between the two forms, plus the computer 'programmer' is such a tool.

They'll need to have a finals round where the winners from previous rounds come to complete!

apaches are douchebags... for being ferocious defenders of their homeland? Savage fighters? See, I think Vikings are the worst, from a "going in and completely wrecking another people." Europe was absolutely shitting the bed with fear of Vikings, and eventually they came and took what they wanted. It wasn't for many generations before the Vikings hellenized and began to find their new niche. But for a long while they were absolutely crazy.

Watched this last night (gladiator vs apache). Neat idea.... but I hate the MTV reality show spin on the "characters". Can we have more history and science and less of the ridiculous shit-talking between the people?

Their computer program looked an awful lot like Excel. Maybe he's just a VB programmer!

It's like comparing different animals and saying "which one would win?"; the answer is that each one evolved in their specific environment, perfectly suited to dominate that environment. You can't directly compare them because their environments are not the same.

A samurai warrior was perfectly suited for that particular role at that particular time and place. A teutonic knight was devastating in his time / environment. You can't really say that one was better or worse than the other, unless they existed in the same environment at the same time and fought each other (for example, Templar Knight vs Mamluk warrior).

They did make a show like that.

did the samurai win?

the 3 kill apache guy was a us army combat instructor, and the gladiator guy from hollywood. it was funny how he broke that apache club on the gladiator helmet without doing any damage practically.

watch the video to see who wins. more entertaining. 🙂

Ninja vs Spartan is coming up next.

I used to watch a show called Ancient Warriors. They would showcase them with re-enactments with lots of history and factual information.

They showed Shaolin Monks, Samurai, Ninja, Roman Legion, Vandals, Vikings, etc...

EDIT: episodes of the show are on Youtube.

I saw the Vikings vs Samuri last night. It was cool showing the weapons, but kind of lame. They should put up similar guys against each other - Vikings vs Spartans, Ninjas vs Samurai, etc.
