Anyone Watch ASMR Videos?

I was scrolling through lemmy yesterday, and ran into an ASMR video post. I've been aware of them for a good while, but never checked them out. I was bored, so I thought "WTH, let's see what's going on...". It's interesting... I get no physical reaction from them, but I'm completely fascinated by the videos. Pretty girls making strange sounds, making movements with lights and objects, and speaking veeery softly. It's like being a baby in a crib, having no idea what's going on, but being mesmerized by the process.

These might be the Great Value™ version of ASMR cause they're on the federated peertube network. Dunno, but it's good enough. Kind of scratches an itch I didn't know I had. The latex gloves weird me out though. I think they're used for the sound they make, but I associate them with cops, medical exams, and murders :^D

Yeah we went through a phase of watching them with the kids before bedtime just to bring the energy level down.

Mostly antique restoration style videos that had a lot of nice spine tingly satisfying spraying and scrubbing noises.

Others are crafting videos and such.

Never liked the pretty lady making weird noises and clicking sound with her nails ones, those were a little too out there and just smacked of low effort content trash.

I can't tell you how long ago it was, but there was this video making the rounds; it was posted here in ATOT. You are in the chair at the Barber's getting a haircut. If you are wearing cans and close your eyes, you are there in the chair. It indelibly imprinted itself in my memory.

Up until about a year ago, there was a girl on Twitch doing ASMR I used whenever I was having trouble sleeping. She would just make these soft sounds with feathers and stuff on the mic; uber relaxing.

I came across one of these videos while I was looking for something for work. Can’t remember what it was. Thought it was cool but never really got into it. It is funny because I REALLY like foley in movies so you think this would be up my alley.

I find many of them relaxing and they help me to sleep

For awhile I was hooked on watching asmr restoration videos. There is something oddly satisfying about watching someone bring an old used thing back to life.

This was my favorite channel.
