No guessing and trying to figure it out from guessing because that is just lame. You have to be absolutely positive that is the right number before you put it in. I can't seem to get past the first 7 placements.

Problem
What I have so far

This is a higher level sudoku problem, but again supposively you don't need to guess. Am I missing something really obvious or something?

**EDIT**
Just help me with the next step. I still want to solve this one on my ride on the bus back home.

I LOVE Suduko...I will take a look now and see if I can figure it out. Normally, I can get them solved fairly quickly. Meanwhile, others can try too! :)

I usually start by examining the column grids...like the 3 (9x9) grids in a column...one at a time. I then repeat the process by doing the 3 (9x() grids in the row. Fill in what I can. Then I simply go each set of 9 blocks one at a time. Lemme take a look. Stay tuned...

I looked, but you're right in that it's a fairly difficult one, there aren't any easy eliminations by column or row...and I'm too lazy to print it out so hopefully someone else helps you :)

Thanks. :) Yeah, the easier soduko problems tend to be really easy and fast to solve, but I can't figure this one out. :( I have been thinking of alll the little tricks I used to get to the next step but I haven't figured any out.

I wonder if I am supposed to guess. If that is the case, this is a bad soduko problem.

OP: I have looked over this and can't seem to find a missing number. *sigh* Gosh that frustrates me! Everytime I think I have a number to fill in and I go to type a response, I see that it ISN'T one that I can fill in.

I agree about the guessing part. However, if you end up having to resort to that, try guessing in that first column on the left. I'll keep working at it, though. And you are correct, you aren't supposed to have to guess at all. Maybe a number was left out accidently when the puzzle was printed. :(

YAY!

Maybe share the number and the location? We might be able to somewhat figure out why that number goes there without explanation...

You are filling in the numbers 1-9 but they have to fit in such a way that there is only ONE of each number (1-9) in each row, in each column, and in each set of grids (3x3 blocks).

each row will have only one instance of 1-9
each column will have only one instance of 1-9
each 3X3 square will have only one instance of 1-9

All 3 rules must apply to win the game.

Praytell how did you derive this?

*EDIT*
Did you guess the 1 or 9 on the left side? Because I don't want to guess.

CRAP! i freakin saved it as a .pdf file by accident cause all the scans here are automatically saved as such.

OMG..this is taking longer than expected. LOL. just give me a few mins folks....i'm experiencing technical difficulties.

You can see what I wrote it.

i got it by writing out all the numbers each column/row needed on the side....and through process of elimination I got the 9.

If you look down the column where the 9 is..you'll see that the numbers it still needs is 1,2,4,6,9.

if you look at the 3x3 box and the ROW where the 9 is..you'll see that that particular box can't have a 1, 2, 4, or 6. so the only logical conclusion is a 9.

YEP! :)
