If he is housetrained and there was a way to get 'em to FL for super cheap I might consider it... have to talk w/ Mrs. Not that it matters... I don't think there's a humane / cheap way to ship 'them. IIRC, there's a private company that will take your dog anywhere but it's Big $$$.

Most of the airlines have restrictions this time of year to bring them in luggage, because tarmac gets too hot in summer. Thus, I think you are limited to driving distance ATOT'ers.

My wife has wanted a Beagle for a while now... she mentions it everytime she sees the one on Enterprise. We haven't actually started looking at the pound for one... just talked about it. So if someone does actually know of a legit and cheap way to get it to FL I'll have to discuss w/ her.

yes, you can get them shipped. some shipping companies will offer air freight for animals. animals are inside a cage for the duration of the flight... allowed food and water, i think... water at least.

and i dont think it's BIG $$$$... certainly a reasonable sum, but not ungodly.

My friend is going to move from washington to new mexico. Shipping on his dog is going to cost him $500. Thats $200 more then HIS round trip ticket.

Well, my sister was stupid enough to get another dog from the pound and now, after extreme disapproval from me and my brother, she has to get rid of it. Unfortunately the rescue league won't take him back. He's a little beagle only about a year old and is really small. He's not neutered so you might have to take care of him. We live in western PA if you're interested. I like the dog but we can't take a sixth dog. I feel bad for it since this may be its only chance at a decent home. We're not asking anything for him so he's all yours if you're interested.

I was going to take it, but I guess I can't compete with you.

WTF are you talking about? He is trying to find the dog a decent home, as in not the pound where he will be put to sleep...

Oniq, he meant this post may be his last chance at a good home. Not that idNut has the only good home. Think next time.

I heard beagle need to play, they get bored easily, if they get bored, they will keep barking. I am going to be a dog owner, I am afraid about that 'cos no one home for at least 9 hour per day during the weekday and I am sure my neighbor won't like to hear dog barking the whole day since I live in a quiet area, what is my future dog going to do in my back yard for those 9 hours?

It really depends on the individual dog....you really can't tell which one are barkers or not until it maybe too late. My wife and I work 8 hour days 8:30 to 5...get home about 6 and spend 3-5 hours with the dog...she's a female Beagle that you can see as a puppie right

here. We're in a condo and Roxy barely ever barks...maybe a couple times a week and that's when I'm playing really rough with her...

Just cross your fingers when you get a dog cuz ya never know..

A little note about beagles, they have a very piercing bark. But usually they're cute and cuddly and nice. At one point, we had 4 dogs. Two old farts (16 year old mini-schnauzer and 15 year old terrior mut) and two youngin's (3 and 2 year old terriors). But the old farts passed away within a year of each other :(

Now we have the two young ones. We'll probably going to end up getting another one dog though, the two we have are fine, but my dad loves schanuzers and had one for 16 years and she was his pride and joy and such. So we're probably getting another mini-schnauzer. Maybe for Christmas?
