Anyone wanna try to take a shot at cleaning up an audio file

This is a pretty old recording so there is quite a bit of hiss. If someone could remove that with as little effect on the song itself I would be most appreciative.

P.S. I prefer as little loss of quality as possible. So if recompression is necessary, please save either to FLAC or a high bit rate Mp3 or OGG

I'd have done it for you if I had my tools installed.

What you need to do is find the noise ceiling, which can be accomplished with a spectrum analyzer and simply looking at the output. Then you run the sound through a 'gate' (kvr-vst.com), plenty of free plug-ins, and set the gate to the noise ceiling you saw in the spectrum analyzer. Or you can bypass the first step and just take the hit-miss approach until something works without destroying dynamic range too much. It's not uncommon for gates to come with compressors so you might want to look for compressors if you cannot find a gate.

Or you can look for noise removal programs that do the whole thing automatically, "noise removal audio" in google or such.
