If so, is the multi-user license you buy for the router functionally the same as Zone Alarm Pro? Does it allow upgrading? If you attach a new computer, does it automatically d/l and configure a new copy of ZA for that computer?

I want to try the router/firewall combo, but won't do it yet if I can't upgrade to v.3.

I used to use it, but it was a single user license on 3 seperate machines hooked up to the router. I am off broadband now, so I don't have that config anymore.

Not sure what you are talking about. Are you saying ZA came with the router?

No. You need to manually install it on each computer and config it.

The router is the firewall. You don't need ZA unless you like to watch what is trying to get in AND out. I use it to monitor proggies trying to get out myself.

Linksys/Zonelab

Read the FAQ too. Very interesting.

From what I've read, this is great if you have more than one computer. You can configure policies on the router and have them pushed to the individual Zone Alarm copies. If you own a linksys router, you can purchase a 4 user lisence for $59.95

From a news article, I discovered that if you attach a computer to the network, and you have free lisences, the router directs you to a d/l page. Then, it configures the set policy for that machine. If you remove a machine from the network, Zone Alarm Pro remains functional for 30 days.

rmblam, I think you've confused using the Linksys/Zone Alarm combo with using a linksys router and using zone alarm.

No, not really. The router is just a router. The security it provides is just through the NAT. And it provides no protection against trojans.
