anyone using Tmobile?

I'm thinking about switching to Tmobile. The mytouch is calling my name.

How is their internet? My only complaint with MetroPCS is the net is dead slow. It takes a good 30 seconds just to load Fark's mobile site.

Any input?

Been using TM since 2001 and internet since 2003. I get 360 kbs per second on my laptop, decent speeds on my 8525. Unlimited data for 19.99 per month, not bad IMO.

edit: You probably would get better speeds with ATT or Sprint but you will pay through the nose for it.

I use the $9/month internet with T-mobile
I think there's a way to hack it so you can browse all non-mobile websites which I did
speed is good... plenty fast for me to load websites on the go like ATOT

If I was going to pay for 3G, I would use AT&T + iphone..tmobiles 3g network is tiny in Minneapolis.

I use the 5$ EDGE data though, on t-mobile with my unlocked iphone, works great, quick enough for emails + some web browsing! I have even downloaded/installed apps off the app store with EDGE....speedtests show about 8KB/s or so, which is twice as good as dialup!

I have a G1. the Android phones have their own data plan different from the other tmobile phones. It's still cheaper than ATT and Sprint at $24.99 but their 3g coverage can be spotty nationally. Around here it's pretty good so i'm happy about it but YMMV.

3G coverage is spotty at best where I live in Berkeley. varies widely from one end of the hall in my building (work) to the next. No coverage at my apartment (~2 miles from work). Significant holes everywhere else.

I'm not really complaining, but I think YMMV is a big factor when considering T-Mobile. best to ask your local friends and neighbors that use them.

I was tethering off their 3G before and it was pretty quick. I averaged around 700 kbps down and about 180 up, something ~160 ms latency. Edge ... is Edge. Best I get is around 70 kbps with a 580 ms latency but average around 40 kbps with around 700 ms latency.

I wish t-mobile had 3g out here. Edge in my area is almost un-usable. I'm stuck with AT&T for now, their 3G coverage is great and the speed is good.

My Blackberry only connects to EDGE. It seems to do 12 KB/s or so, but when loading pages on the phone's browser speed is usually limited by processor rendering, not connection bandwidth. Wi-Fi has faster response times but ultimately doesn't offer much sustained transfer advantage.

Anyway, it's totally fine for browsing and data is unlimited. I wouldn't use it for a bittorrent, but it gets the job done for regular stuff.

If its a phone, you'd do better to use Wifi. Get a phone with Wifi, you'll be grateful.
If its a laptop with a cellular module, you shouldnt even bother. Just use Wifi. Its free. Of course, if you get the MyTouch you'll be forced into a special data plan with unlimited usage, so cost wont really be an issue. But speeds are apalling. Use the Wifi. T-Mobile is one of the few companies thats cool with unlocked phones, but on the G1 and My Touch, some things HAVE to be done over cellular data, so if you got an unlocked android phone its unlikely you'd be able to do EVERYTHING over Wifi and not have a regular data plan, but you would wanna use it whenever possible.

Sprint is not even in the same league as AT&T as far as prices go. AT&T rapes people for their prices and horrible 3G coverage.
