Anyone using the TT Crystal Orb to cool their VGA?

The cheapo chipset fan on my Assus V7700 Geforce 2Gts crapped out, so I picked up 2. The other will go on my visiontek G3 ti200. Picked'em up for less then $10 ea. at SVC. Anyone using these? Able to OC any higher then stock? They are QUITE a bit bigger and heqavier then the stock cheapos. Any trouble using the push in mounts? Thanx!

I also have a question for those using this. How is the noise? I have gone to great lengths to get my PC as quiet as possible and the stock fan on my Hercules KyroII card really stands out and would like to replace it.

I will let you know tonite. The first thing I am doing when I get home after all you can eat sushi with my woman tonite (yeah the actual raw fish Sushi you pervs 😀, is isntalling it on the G2GTS. I have panaflo L1A's all around in it with a quiet 80mm cpu fan so I will post as soon as I am finished.

I installed one on my Visiontek Ti200 last week. No problems with the push in pins. The Orb has a slight "whine" to it that I hear mainly after I boot the computer for the first time. After that it goes away. Then again, it's hard to hear much of anything over this screaming delta on my CPU. Thank god it's going bye bye this weekend. 🙂

As far as overclocking, I am running my Ti200 at 220/510. Overall, I couldn't overclock much higher than what I got from the stock.

before for you install the crorb (cystal orb) lap the base of it to nice mirror finish, LIGHTLY!!! lap the chip to get all the gunk off it as well. apply some artic silver epoxy and slap that sucker together. you'll get kick ass temps and a good overclocking ceiling.

I have no inclination to lap it whatsoever, it is pretty smooth out of the box. I will be using some ASII for sure tho.

I run the CORB on my GF3. I found the fan to be VERY loud (5500 rpm). I was able to tame it by removing the "TT" lid, which also improves airflow and running it @ 7V instead of 12V. Works well and the noise is now tolerable.

I have a Crorb w/o gay Tt "grill" AATE'd to a GF2 MX200 at work. I think you can guess what I think of it seeing as to how it's on that pitiful video card 😀

Installed them this am, took no more then 5-10mn each. Took the fan guard off the top like recommended and MAYBE noticed a slight increase in Noise on 1 system. My GF didnt notice a thing and it is the one she uses, so noise isnt really much of a factor. My other system, I replaced the L1A on top of my 8045 as it was running 47c under full load, with an 80mm Sunon (high output, forgot the stats). Anyway, it is slightly louder then with the L1A, but certainly not much, cant notice the Crytal Orb at all and is now a nice 41C under full SETI load. STill quiet and cooling well!
