How did you like it? Was it easy to set up? Appreciate any feedback.

I just bought one this past week. (Ordered it from EMS Computing on Thursday at 4PM got it the next day!)

I'm pretty novice when it comes to networking but setup was a snap.

Just plug the device in use your web browser to setup the router and it works.

Using Verizon DSL right now and PPPOE works without a hitch.

Great thing is the router automatically logs on when it powers up so you don't need to have Winpoet or RASPPPOE on your PC. All you do is open your web browser.

Can't be 100% positive but on Unreal Tournament I used to get about a 100ms ping time. After getting the new router I've gone down to 40ms on occasion.

Just like you I did some research on this site and everyone seemed to recommend the 314. Seems like they are correct so far.

Sounds good so far :) I'm hoping it will work with Road Runner cable in my neck of the woods.

I read that review, thanks. I'm no propeller head, especially with Networking. Was it difficult to configure?

No.

Very easy.

Used the web interface, then telnetted in to check a couple of things.

Of course, I didn't try anything super-complicated.

It took me like 5 min to get up and running.

No. It was very easy. Just type in http://192.168.0.1 in the web browser, the router webpage pops up. Change the settings, for me it was PPPOE and then type in your name and passwords, then setup up the IP addresses or DHCP settings and it goes.

The one good thing about the router for me is that Hell Atlantic's networks seems to lock up on me every so often when playing UT and Everquest. When this happens my PC usually locks up or crashes (though I use Win2K). With the router these lockups seem to be reset by the router so I may lose the connection for a few seconds but the connection gets reestablished without a crash.

I have the first version of their router, the RT311. It is the same router with just one port on it. The Netgear is a great router and they have firmware updates every few months. I use it or several other methods to share the internet, but for a novice, this is the way to go.

ok will this router do what the linksys does allow me to forward traffic calling 21 to an internal machine like 192.168.0.3 so I can run a web server?
