i've heard that alpha 8045 will contact 8kha+ board's one of capacitors.. (one that is close to dimm slot) is that true? if so, is there any good way to use the heatsink on the board withtout damaging the capacitor? thank in advance.
I'm using an Alpha 8045 on a 8kha+ mobo. On my mobo, the heatsink barely grazes the capacitor. I haven't had any problems yet, even after my computer had a nasty fall.
Mine has about a pin sized distance between the capacitor and heatsink. I assume there's an ever so slight variation among boards but like others have said if you spent a minute filing the thing manually or a few seconds with a Dremel you wouldn't have the possibility of them touching. 🙂
