took me awhile to get used to it, but i think it really does a great job of making fonts look better, anyone else tried it?

Yes, I personally love cleartype.

For a nice demonstration of cleartype (a.k.a. sub-pixel font rendering), try this small program.

Works great on my Planar 18.1" LCD. It's made for LCD screens; I don't think that you wanna try it if you have a CRT.

I can understand it being made to help LCD/Laptop screens, but why don't you reccomend it for a CRT? It looks awesome on my Samsung 955df 😕

Yup, it's actually quite subjective. There is a thread in the OS forum about it, and a lot of bickering went on (i.e., "no you suck"). There is no harm in seeing it for yourself so you can form an opinion on it. Most who like it, hated it at first, but after working with it, can't work without it.

it works great. i run it on my 11.3" screen on my toshiba and it helps readability especially with that screen has a default res of 1024x768. but when i hook it up to my nanao 21" 8 year old monitor still at 1024x768 it still makes it look better. it just works better on LCDs, but most monitors especially high end ones work well too.
