AMD Athlon XP Processor Recommended Power Supplies
I am considering (based on local availability and budget) the following psu's for a new Palimino system:
Topower TOP-370PII 370w Max. Power: 220w
Enermax EG365P-VE 350w Max. Power: 185w
They both the same price.
So Topower has 150 residual watts for the 12 volt channel and the Enermax has 165, but it boasts 220w of combined power over Enermax's 180w. I'm guessing the XP2000+ and an average mobo require at least 180 watts as none on the list have less than that. So is 185w cutting it thin? Which is quieter? Which is higher quality over all?
Any experience or opinions y'all can offer?🙂
[Max. Power for anyone who doesn't know, is the combined power of the 3.3 and 5 volt channels offerd by a psu that cpu's and mobo's exclusively use. The Athlon XP 1800+, for example, requires 172 watts of power, leaving in the case of a 300w psu, 128w for the cards on the mobo and other peripherals to play with.]
