I purchased a power adapter from SVC to mate up with an X800XT. Since my old, but strong Enermax 651 isn't ready for the heap, I'd like to use that. I connected it up to the X800Xt and it's a no go. The guy i bought it from assured me it was running prior to shipment, and he seems respectable enough, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

I think the pinouts on the 2x3 PCI-e > 2x Molex adapter are wrong. I've been searching through the internet and I find conflicting information on the correct pin out.

Spode makes use of 3 grounds on the top row, and only 2 12v leads on the bottom. Middle pin is unused.

Power on makes use of 3 12v leads, the third I believe is going the the unused lead in the spode link above.

EndPCnoise clearly shows 3 12v leads

The cable I bought from SVC has a ground lead connecting up between the two 12v leads.

Can anyone clarify what's going on here.

TIA

In case this ever comes up again, the solution from Spode worked. I took the SVC adapter and removed the ground that was between the two 12v hot wires.

The SVC solution DOES NOT WORK. What raised my original question was that I fried my trusty Antec True 430 last week on the original install. Half of me chalked it up to me just making a mistake somewhere on the install. But I couldn't figure it out, so I after investigation, I rolled the dice and tried the Spode arrangement feeling it was the safest.

Just a little buyer beware if you purchased a 6 pin PCI-e power adapter from SVC. SVC has admitted via email that the adapters they sold me had the incorrect pinouts. As for my fried 430, they will not cover it. How very nice of them.:disgust: Customer service at it's best.:|
