Hi, I am new to overclocking but i would like to build my own system soon. I have considered overclocking the FSB to 150mhz and using some PC150 ram like the mushkin hsdram. Has anyone tried this? Also how far have you got 1.1 or 1.2 ghz t-birds without using the vapochill or something similar, cause i am not sure i can afford that but who knows. thanks.

I am running an p3 650 @1001 mhz (154 x 6.5)on asus cusl2-c using tiny pc150 ram ordered from accessmicro.com(68 bucks for 128 meg). There is no way you can run 150 fsb on Tbird with Kt133 chipset. I dont know about the new chipset but the highest fsb I could achieve with the Msi pro2a is 108 fsb. Maybe others have better luck.

Hmmm this seems problematic, with the new 133 fsb chips would it become possible for T-birds to reach the 150mhz to take full advantage of the kingmax PC150 tiny ram? Anyone have any guesses, theories, or better yet know for sure?

I'm ran my 700E @ 1050 (150 x 7) on an ASUS CUSL2-C using Mushkin Rev3 Memory (3 128 Mg sticks to boot...) During Burn-in. I have since dropped it back down a wee bit in search of the sweet spot for my SCSI controller and throughput. I'm still burning it in and may puch it back up:)

<edit> Just wanted to add that I'm running an Alpha 6035 w/Sayno fan (quiet) and Lasagna BGA cooler on the 815 Chipset with Artic Silver under both....1.8v

wow! Tweakin, i also have a P3 700E @ 1050 mHz, only i'm using the Golden Orb and arctic silver to cool it. runs stable @ default 1.7v, but errors occur when i start multi-tasking. but this problem goes away with a Vcore increase to 1.75v. also have 256 MB Mushkin PC133 rev3 SDRAM.

oh yes...i almost forgot the subject at hand. you could definitely use the 150 FSB with a P3 CPU setup, but i honestly dont know about an AMD. RAM and PCI speeds would be your only barriers unless the CPU just cant push that FSB. but thats where 3/4 memory dividers come into play. as for the 1/4 PCI divider, some of your PCI components might not be able to run @ 38-39 mHz (1/4 x 150 mHz).

700e@1085(155fsb) 1.7v on a CUSL2-C 2 128mb Mushkin REV 3(2,2,2 5/7t) no errors no problem. I can go to 160fsb but start to get errors an lockups, I haven't had the board long enough to mess with it and figure out what's causing the lockups.

I have my ram running at a fsb of 150 but my t-bird is only running at 112fsb I would wait for the KT133A chipset...

Clinth, you have an excellent CPU. 700E @ 1085 mHz using default 1.7v (i'm assuming its a cC0, not a cB0). my question is what does the 5/7t in your memory settings mean? mine are set to cas (2-2-2, 7/9t). i know what the first threee numbers represent, but i'm not sure about the 5/7t or 7/9t means.

wow cpars! thats an amazing OC, but how low did you start at? what is the CPU's rated default clock speed?

Wow!!! Congratulations i am impressed. What kind of cooling did you use? and also that is one awsome hard drive score, what were you using there? Thanks for the scores.

Squirrleman, I'm no expert, by far, but what I do know is that if you check out the latest news here at anandtech, (in the past couple days) you will see articles ont he release of the new KT133A chipset. These are the chipets that allow your FSB to reach 150mhz (and possibly beyond)

So from what I've read, if your looking to overclock to 150mhz FSB, then you'll have to buy one of the new KT133a mobos.

Oh, and as a side note, some motherboards let you set your memory frequency different from your FSB frequency, so you might not nedd PC150 RAM, but if you can afford it, go for it! (I know I wish I could)

AH ! Thanks guys, It is a 1.2 ghz retail on a MSI K7TPro2-A,one of the most stable overclockin chips I ever had. I need a new bios with some more multipliers, oh and cooling is a plain old Fop32. Last time I checked the temps were 42C after palayinga few rounds of UT.

Sunny129 "the 5/7t is the number of sdram clocks used for SDRAM parameters Tras and Trc were tras specifies the minimum clocks required between active command and precharge command. Trc specifies the miniumum clocks required between active command and re-avtive command." so says tyhe ASUS CUSL2-C mannual I just figure faster is better:) I can't waith to get time to play with this CPU/board I have found it to be the most stable setup I have ran in a ong time. The chip is a cCo stepping SL4CH

ahh i see...so 7/9t allows for more clock cycles for tras and trc, so i should change it to 5/7t to increase speed? by the way, i also have a cC0 SL4CH (on a CUSL2). i can also get mine to 1085 mHz, but it takes 1.85v to keep win98 and programs stable. so i just run mine @ 1050 mHz so i can run stable @ 1.7v.
