Anyone used SprintPCS equipment replacement plan? Broke my cell phone...

Can anyone give me some insight on the sprint PCS equipment replacement plan? I've been paying for it for about a year, and last night I managed to snap the antenna off my phone.. and overall it's just not doing so good.

My problem, though - I have a nokia phone which I REALLY like, and sprint doesn't sell anymore. I assume I'm screwed on this issue. But can I get some sort of a credit towards a new model phone? Is this something that the local sprint store can help me out with etc?

Any info would be appreciated. I know I can just call them up, but I want to know what my options are, or if I should try to cobble my phone back together and keep using it...

No, it's pretty trashed. This was a nokia that has the non-pullout antenna. I broke the antenna off and cracked the housing. On top of that, the phone's LCD goes out sometimes.

I've had the thing for ~3 years and it is an awesome phone, but snapping off the antenna is pretty much the end of it...

I just want to know how screwed I can expect to be by sprint... I mean are they going to try to give me some total garbage $29.95 phone to replace mine?

Actually, Id like to know also. I have a Sanyo SCP4500 but want the newer model, the SCP4700. Gotta keep up with technology, ya know? 😉

Why don't you just call *2 and ask?

I read it over once when I signed up 18 months ago and I think you pay $35 and they replace the phone.

I'm avoiding calling because there's a sprint store right next to my office, and I'm HOPING that they can help me on tuesday. But figured I'd rather get a heads up and go into the situation with a clue about my options.

Plus reading the fine print on sprint's website, it looks like the equip replacement used to be a lot better (I recall they'd replace the phone, accessories, extra batteries etc) then it is now. Also, they say something like they'll "replace your phone with an equivalent (possibly refurbished) model" - which means they could pretty much try to screw me any way they want.

Since I could THEORETICALLY still somehow fix my existing phone, I want to find out from anyone who has had experience with this if they were succesful in getting something decent. The only thing I found on the web was some guy complaining that they screwed him, sent him a "refurbished" phone that was worse than the one he lost, etc.

Edit: oh yeah, and the other reason is that every time I've had the misfortune of talking to someone from sprintpcs, they have honestly been the absolute worst, least informed, least literate CSRs I've dealt with.
