Anyone used DVD genie to enable 4 channel downmix with a hollywood+? How well does it work?

I'm looking at the Hollywood+ tab in DVD Genie, and there is an option to output sound through soundcard, and using 4 channel downmix.

It says this option may not work with drivers newer than 1.7 becuase of licensing issues [with creative].

Well I have an SBLive! Value which is card creative intended this 4 channel downmix thing for.

So I'm just wondering if anyone has had any luck with this 4 channel downmix option?

Also DVD Genie says it "might" not work with drivers newer than 1.7, anyone tried with the 1.82s ?

I'm curious for Win98SE and Win2000, I have the 1.7 9x and 1.7 NT drivers, and the 1.82 for both as well...

does not work with new drivers under win2k. would crash 30sec into movie.

Noriaki, a good site with info is http://www.digital-digest.com. If you're using Win98SE, you shouldn't have any problems. I'd recommend the Creative Dxr3 in that case because it is designed to work with the SB Live! to downmix the AC-3 audio.

i know but like I said before, I already have a hollywood plus 🙁 I wish I bought a Dxr3 instead...
