I just switched to Ting from ATT and bought a motorola phone into the service. So far the signal is much better and all calls go through.

I'm trying to figure out how to manage my calls now though. I'm used to using my phone for a lot of calls. Now I'll have to use minutes sparingly to not go over to the next tier hmm.

I'm happy to have rid of ATT though.

May want to inquire over in MD&G. I know there was some talk about it a while back, but I think things have cooled a bit over it.

Didn't they just state that rooting was against their ToS too, or was that someone else?

Edit - That was Republic Wireless, I think?

They let you root. Mine is rooted right now. Actually got lucky and got a Photon that didn't receive the OTA update that locked down the phone.

I have Ting for my 11 year old. Had him on our Sprint family plan but just couldn't justify paying approx 50/mo for him to never use his phone. Switched his wimax Evo over to Ting with zero issue. Now it's only $6/mo if he never uses his phone or likely less than 20/mo based on his max previous usage.

I just switched to Ting a couple of months ago. It's great.

How many minutes are you using each month, OP?

This is my first day of service so so far 0 mins 10 txt and 12MBs.

Interesting to see how it will work out. I wish they had an A list feature though. There's less than 10 numbers that I call regularly.

Were you able to import your existing contacts/text messages from your old cell?

The contacts transferred through my google acct. Didn't care about the messages but I supposed it could have been transferred.
