Anyone use their DVD player to play cds as well?

I was just wondering if a lot of you guys use your dvd players in your a/v setup to play cds as well. I am wondering whether I should get a dedicated CD player for just cds and a separate DVD player or just get a dvd player and use it for both.
Am I throwing money away by going with the first choice? Digital is digital no? And if I use the digital coaxial output from a DVD player into my receiver wouldn't it sound just the way its supposed to sound? Does the coaxial sound better than the optical out? Shouldn't they sound the exact same? 😕
Also, the digital ouputs should sound better than the analouge ones right? Or am I going to run into LP vs. CD sound quality type of debate?

For some people it depends on how your room is set up. Some people have a movie setup, and also a seperate audio only setup. Some do both in one setup. Depends on your room, and where you are when you listen.
