Anyone use their DVD player to play cds as well?

I was just wondering if a lot of you guys use your dvd players in your a/v setup to play cds as well. I am wondering whether I should get a dedicated CD player for just cds and a separate DVD player or just get a dvd player and use it for both.
Am I throwing money away by going with the first choice? Digital is digital no? And if I use the digital coaxial output from a DVD player into my receiver wouldn't it sound just the way its supposed to sound? Does the coaxial sound better than the optical out? Shouldn't they sound the exact same?
Also, the digital ouputs should sound better than the analouge ones right? Or am I going to run into LP vs. CD sound quality type of debate?

For some people it depends on how your room is set up. Some people have a movie setup, and also a seperate audio only setup. Some do both in one setup. Depends on your room, and where you are when you listen.
