anyone use the US Robotics 8054 G wireless turbo router ?

I haven't see anyone reference the US Robotics Model 8054 G wireless turbo router (WEM54RW) for about $75 AR.

specs say 100 Mbps and 30% greater range thne other 54Mbps wireless products. Plus up to 256-bit WEP.

anyone test these claims ?

This seems to be better / cheaper then the Linksys WRT54G ???


Other differences:

1. I did notice robotics said MAC address authentication where as Linksys said MAC address filtering - is there a difference ?

2. linsys claims "statefull packet inspection" (SPI), didn't see that for Robotics - not sure what that is beside screening packets as they come in - no sure what they are inspecting for ??

3. RoBotics claims VPN pass-through support for PPTP, IPSEC & L2TP - Linksys is missing L2TP: I don't have the foggest idea what that is - except most likely its only useful if where you are VPNing to uses it ??

My friend and I just went 3 thru of these routers in the past week, all purchased from Tiger Direct.

The power cord does not stay in very well, which shouldn't be a problem, but I left it unplugged for about 1 minute and lost all my settings.

The wireless, which is why I bought it, has a serious problem. Ever 10-15 seconds, it cuts out completly, for 1 second, then starts up again. My friend called USR tech support and they said it is a know problem that will be addressed in future firmware release.
