anyone use rechargeable batteries? and does brand of SD memory matter?

i'm buying my new digi camera from newegg today and I see they have a few different rechargable 4-AA battery sets. i'm wondering if anyone has used any of the ones off of newegg. here are the links:

I really wanted to just go ahead and order them with my camera and memory so I could just get it all in one package. If however there are better rechargeable brand batteries in stores that are similiar in price, plz let me know because I could always go and buy some in a B&M store.

also, does the brand of secure digital (SD) memory really matter? i'm going to either get a 512mb or 1gb SD card but I wanted to know if the brand really matters. i'm pretty new to this stuff so sorry if its a dumb question.

BTW, this is the camera I'm getting.
 
I got a set of Energizer 2500mAh, and they kick ass. I've taken at least 500 pics on one charge, and probably at least 100 of those were with the flash on.
 
I'd get the energizer ones as well, I picked mine up at best buy with an employee discount, but I've seen them at walmart for around $20 for the charger and 4 batteries.

my radio shack rechargeable's out last my energizer rechargeable's.
Actually I bought them the same day 4 years ago and the Radio shack ones still work (the energizers are dead).

brand doesn't really matter but some brand, ie sandisk has 5 year warranty, etc..
dont get the regular old sd cards, the newer one are 32x or higher.. 9mb read/write output.. the older one are too slow at that size

Just make sure you get rechargeable batteries that are at least 2200mAh. Anything less and you camera may have problems. I didn't know about that when I first got my camera and bought 1800mAh without thinking about it. My A70 kept randomly shutting off until I realized the batteries were my problem.
 
sweet i just ordered it 🙂

i ended up going with a 512mb card since it's only 3.2MP, i figure that 300+ pics on my camera at once should be okay 🙂.
 
SD generally does not matter for 'normal' use.

Higher SD speeds mean you can get faster transfer to the COMPUTER if you have a FAST ENOUGH SD CARD READER.

The camera your getting won't use the extra speed. Few cameras do and the ones that do will use CF as it is bigger capacity and cheaper.

It matters to some extent, I had a PNY card in my A75 and the videos would stop at 5secs or so, switched to a UltraII (yes overkill but I had to get one for my *istD anyways) and it would record the full 30sec.

yea i heard slower cards can't keep up with the video framerate. however, i won't be using this for video probably at all (since i have a camcorder for that), but still, i figured faster = better heh.

eh, you'd be suprised how handy the video can be. I had a A75, a DSLR, and a dv camcorder and the A75 saw the most use, both for photos and video. Can't take photo/video if you don't have the camera with you😉
 
Nexcell is supposedly one of the more profressional brands. my friend got a couple online and they last almost double my energizer 2000mah ones. They tend to be cheaper if u can find REAL ones on ebay.
