Last time I was running pfsense and it ran like crap on my soekris 4801

when I enabled a few QoS and NAT rules:(

They just rewrote it for freebsd 2 and I am stil lreluctant to go with them since I haven't messed with m0n0wall yet

nevermind...back deep in the bowels of their site they say that it will run slow on a wrap or equivalent...they are basically porting m0n0wall to faster systems, whereas m0n0 concentrates on embedded system...

thsi made my day though...

n a net4501, m0n0wall provides a WAN <-> LAN TCP throughput of about 17 Mbps, including NAT, when run with the default configuration. On faster platforms (like net4801 or WRAP), throughput in excess of 50 Mbps is possible (and > 100 Mbps with newer standard PCs).

basically, don't install pfsense on an embedded pc like i did;)

Just for info, it was slowly to a CRAWL on my box. I was getting like 20kb/s(~2.5KB/s) if I set a bunch of rules. now I know. It was very cool, but not the right application of its strengths.
