Are you distro hopping?
@Indus time to give Zorin a go!
I kinda want you to actually do this so I can get you to set Steam up in exactly the same way as me to see if BF2 works!
Debian here. I've always been on some kind of debian, even when it was a *buntu. I've used some other distros for specialty purposes, but for daily use, it's debian.
I'm with you on that! I think it's part of the learning curve coming from Windows.BTW @WelshBloke I've more or less figured out that rolling release while it sounds great, creates problems in the long run.. sorta like games with patches that break the game and need to be fixed.
I need something that just works.
Maybe I'll go with LMDE7 when it's out since it's LTS Kernel can support my 9060xt 16GB.
I have before and it's fine but I'm sorry but I can't get used to gnome full time.
I do love that Linux gives that choice! It took me awhile to get my head around the choice of DE (like gnome or KDE) and windowing systems (xirg and Wayland) and that you can mix and match all these things to make something fairly unique to you!I have before and it's fine but I'm sorry but I can't get used to gnome full time.
Fedora and Debian are both solid choices! I kinda like the idea of those base distros that are just themselves but then I run them and there's a bunch of QOL things that I end up missing. I guess that when I've been using Linux for a bit longer I'll be more aware of what and how to install those QOL things myself on the "base" distros!Fedora is fine but I still don't fully trust it.. I mean it works like Ultramarine and isn't pushing too many patches, but I'm still not sure it was an Ultramarine repo or a Fedora..
I know Debian works.. I'm just considering alternatives incase I have to switch again. Good thing about Debian is timeshift would work again and I'd be back on EXT4.
Not specifically about Zorin but I've definitely broken things by installing Gnome on KDE distros or KDE on Gnome ones. But you shouldn't have any troubles just installing KDE on Mint/Zorin. My work machine started out as Fedora Budgie, then I installed GNOME, Cinnamon, and MATE to play with and stuck with Cinnamon. only had to remove extra apps and reset the default 'app opens with'.

Also it does get messy doing that as you get a ton of duplicate apps and I really struggle with Linux apps that I'm unfamiliar with as they can have such esoteric names!
That KDE command prompt app is pretty good though!
I'll have to try it in a VM to see how smooth it would work, but if I wanted Mint or Zorin with KDE, I would install it, then remove gnome or cinnamon and clean up any extra apps. Not specifically about Zorin but I've definitely broken things by installing Gnome on KDE distros or KDE on Gnome ones.

Pretty sure I've done that on Gnome as well!KDE is pretty good once you figure out you shouldn't delete your taskbar panel PERIOD!
My Gnome is fairly default. Dash to panel extension, set the transparency, set most things to monitor centre, keep the system icons to the right. At least you can reset to the default!
So Indus are you going to give opensuse a try?
the community has often said it has one of the best KDE implementations
Addendum:
I spent a few hours today testing Leap in a VM.
I'm doubting now it will work for your use.
I couldn't get corectrl, LACT or coolercontrol to work because they are made for tumbleweed and many Leap packages are too old now.
coolercontrol even has an "foolproof" appimage but when I tried to run it, nothing happens...
going to try out openmandriva next. it has a LTS build with KDE.
it's a shame neither of these distros, which use RPM packages, are compatible with Fedora RPMs.
