Well, this is the wrong forum because HoFo would be the right one :)

Anyhow, have you downloaded the MPT update files?

Does Windows open up the New Hardware Wizard when you plug your phone in? Or has it at some point in the past?

Oh, and have you turned on the auto-update function of MPT?

Are you using a USB cable made by motorola, or a replica? Some replicas have problems, but mine works fine though (I have a motorola one too!)

Or if your using a bluetooth connection, does any other bluetooth software detect the phones?

when i plug in the v810 it comes up and says "found new hardware v810"

and yeah its a replica...but i figured a cable is a cable..how hard can it be to manufacture?

Excellent. Alright, here's what I'd do.

Phase 1
Open up MPT, go to Menu => Options => Live Update and install any available updates. Close MPT

Phase 2
Open up Device Manager and uninstall your phone. It will be under Modems.

Phase 3
With your phone on, remove the battery. Re-insert it and turn the phone back on. This will cause your phone to grab any fresh Cingular updates

Phase 4
Plug your phone into your computer. When the hardware wizard opens up, point it toward "C:\Program Files\mobile PhoneTools\Inf\W2K_XP_USB_Drivers" or wherever you have your drivers.

Phase 5
Open up MPT...

I'm successfully using Mobile Phone Tools with my Motorola V220. Steps I took:

1. Acquire and install the P2K drivers that allow you to add the "Motorola USB Modem" device to your system. Make sure your phone is turned on and connected via your mini-USB cable when you attempt detection of the device.

2. Download the free Mobile PhoneTools for Multiport GPRS Module software from HP.

3. Get the upgrade for the software, mobilePhoneTools_2.21b_US-exe or a later version, from BVRP or a vendor or by private sale.

4. ???

5. Profit.
