Anyone use gopher anymore?

I have been trying to teach my day classes about gopher and haven't had any luck finding any gopher sites anymore. Is it gone completely?

I don't think so. There's still some ways to seach alot of the old gopher pages. Many of them haven't been taken down. A friend of mine is into this for "nostalgia" I guess. He has the domain, gopherlives.com

redhat 5.2 sets up a gopher server by default. I cant figure out where ot put content for it though. I run it (RH5.2, gopher disabled b/c i couldnt' find stuff for it) here

Anyway... do you really think gopher is a useful thing to learn? I took a look at the protocol, and personally, I think it is awful
