I just signed up with them last week, but I did a regular investment account and not an IRA. I also went to one of their investments centers and signed up in person, not online. They were very helpful and the website seems to have lots of useful information.
I have a Brokerage IRA with them that lets me have mutual funds and individual stocks in my portfolio. I have been with them since the early 90s. I have been satisfied with them. Another one to consider that i use Is MFS Investment management. I have a 401k managed by them and I have had excellent results from it this past year. Pretty sure they have IRA accounts as well so you may want to check into them. Whoa Just looked at their main page and it seems they got nabbed by the SEC for something. Still doesn't look like anything to serious going forward.
i have accounts with fidelity, solomn smith barney, and charles shwab, i like fidelitys webiste the best for their info and usabliity, i reccomend them
I sometimes recommend vanguard.com, but only because you can get one of the best S&P500 index mutual funds (VFINX) from them without paying the transaction fee that other brokerages will charge you.
Not that I have an account there myself , I took a friend's advice when rolling over the 401k from my previous employer and put it at Schwab. I've been happy with the service at Schwab, but I can't recommend them unless you do have a big rollover or want to start a very well-funded general account.
