Anyone use Cox High Speed Internet security software?

If so, is it crippled in any way?

I just made a new computer and don't feel like springing for another copy of Norton.

Please see the Consolidated Security Thread's section on freeware alternatives to Norton Internet Securities, programs listed there will be much less heaving on the system resources. (under guide to the best antivirus and firewall)

Thanks for the link. I am familiar with all that. I been around for a while. I did a search before I posted.

I wanted to know who has specifically used Cox Cable's free software, and what they thought of it.

Anyone?

Thanks,

Dan

I seen the cox crapware (McAfee spinoffs) on dozens of systems that I service, and I remove the suite every time. Their software is bloated and you're better off using the following:

1) AntiVir or AVG if you can't afford to spend <$40 on a quality AV
2) Windows XP Firewall (SP2) or Kerio
3) Spam blockers need too much training IMHO so I don't use them. It takes a few seconds each day to delete the unwanted mail.
4) If you don't have XP SP2 then get the Google toolbar for a popup blocker

Thanks,

I used Mcafee 2 years ago and didn't like it then.

I don't like spam blockers either and I use the google toolbar for popups.

I may just spring for a 3 user Symantec antivirus....with rebates it's almost free. I'll need AV for my new laptop too.

Any other opinions?

Dan
