Anyone use Amazon's store card (Synchrony Bank)?

I'm a big prime user and saw that they have a store card that gives 6 months 0% interest on amazon purchases and 5% cashback, though it's a deferred interest kinda thing. Looked like a good deal to make larger purchases on amazon. I googled it, though, and lots of people have posted bad reviews of Synchrony Bank, the company that runs the store card.

A lot of the bad reviews look like they are customer error, but a few of them look legit. I thought I'd ask ATOT, because you guys all make 6 figures and have 700+ fico scores ;)

So, should I get a store card if I plan on paying at least the financing balance on the post date every month?

I have the Amazon store card and its been fine. I have another card from Synchrony bank, I think it's the Care Credit card which can only be used for medical care and veterinary care. I got it when my cat got sick last summer. The cat didn't make it, but the card did. I experienced no issues with that one either.

I also have both of those same cards that are serviced by Synchrony and I have had no issues with them. I pay the amazon card of immediately when I use it though so I haven't had any prolonged interaction with them. I don't think you can get the cash back and the same as cash option on the same purchase though.

There is also the Chase Amazon card which gives 5% on Amazon purchases as well.

I did a same a cash with the care credit for some expensive vet bills last year. I paid it off early and set up automatic payments on their website. I never had any issues with that either.

One of my store cards is serviced by Synchrony Bank (it's either Art Van or Home Depot, I forget). I've never had any issues.

Yeah, I was googling the difference between the visa card and the store card (had them confused) when I saw the bad reviews. Looks like it's mostly people bad at keeping up with cc bills.

Anybody else have experience?

I applied for the store card once when they were running a 0% category I wanted to use. They gave me all of $500. Utterly useless when I spend roughly double that on Amazon every month. I've never used it. And for what it's worth, yes six figures and 700+ FICO.

The Chase Amazon Prime card at this point is working great for me, and thus far Chase hasn't bitched that it sees nothing but Amazon purchases.

I obtained the Prime Synchrony when it came out, solely for the 5% (it's been a long time since we've carried a balance, so 0% interest wasn't a big draw). Only complaint is that the servicing website was slow, sometimes inaccessible.

I immediately switched over (back) to using our Amazon Chase card when they raised their purchase reward from 3% -> 5%. Haven't intentionally used the Syncrhony since.

No problems here either with the Amazon Store Card. I also never carry a balance.

I got it during a gift card promo and they gave me a $500 credit limit, which is basically useless.

The Amazon Prime Visa card has 5% back now, so I just use that.

I applied for and received the card last august or september and have saved a lot of money with it.. My limit is 3800, not sure why everyone gets 500 dollar limits.. I do have a lot of history of buying with amazon and income/credit is good. I've put $350-$2000 a month on it because of new house and wedding expenses (making cards etc ourselves so lots of supplies). I have it set to auto pay every bill so it'll never carry a balance or pay late (hopefully).

I have it for the 5% cashback. It's better than my Amex reward so I signed up. It's not much to it. I mean it's linked to my bank, and I just use it.
I never carry a balance, but I figure that's a given.
Not sure what my limit is, never really think about a "limit" on a card since I'm always technically spending my own cash so unless I have the cash on hand, I'm not buying something.

You can get the card for the 0% interest rate for 6 months on purchases, I just see it for what it is. A bait. And I'd rather train myself to wait personally and properly plan before hand to save for my purchases.

That's a whole budgeting thing before hand though and I don't want to bore you with how I enjoy making budget forecasts.

I have 2 accounts through Synchrony Bank because Discount Tire and Ethan Allen uses them. Both of them were 6 months same as cash. I paid them off in time and got hit with no extra charges. They seem legit.

Same for me. I switched back to Chase after only having the synchrony card a few month. I'm wondering if it's best for my credit to cancel our keep the account.

My girlfriend has a Synchrony card and the card number was stolen and numerous fraud charges were made several states away. Despite a clear spending pattern that indicated fraud, the bank did not catch it, and she only found out upon checking her account online. Thankfully she does that every day. She has called the bank numerous times and asked to have the charges removed but the bank refused to remove them until they actually posted to her account, rather than remove the pending charges. It has been a huge hassle dealing with theme to get the charges cleared up. This in my experience is atrocious. I have had fraud on my AMEX and they will fix the problem immediately.

From my very superficial understanding, you *will* take a minor credit hit. IIRC the contribution of the line of credit to your score is mostly a factor of a) how long it has been available to you, b) amount of the credit, and c) and your rolling % use of the balance.

I have the store card. I used it to buy my couch & love seat with no interest.
I also have the Amazon Chase, which rocks for 5% back.

I had a few cards through Synchrony (TJMax, Walmart, Amazon) but I closed them and paid them off a while back as I'm bad with money and credit. No issues with the cards while they were opened.
