Anyone use Adelphia cable modem service, AND HATE IT?

Well, Im sitting up here in Buffalo, NY.
And Im on Adelphias "powerlink", should be named "powerdump".

How do they expect to sell a service in which the DNS goes down every 5 mins.
Even if I was someone who had no idea about using bandwidth, I would still be like, man this browsing REALLY SUCKS.

And getting credits is a pain, I so hate waiting on the phone just to hear a tech support geek ask me to troubleshoot my machine.
Comon son, I was setting up the routers you use to push data.

At least Adelphia offers cable modem where you live..they don't even offer here in Anaheim,CA!!

Well, when i was living in Cheektowaga (5 miles outside buffalo) I had both adelphia powerlink and Verizon DSL. Not at the same time mind you but long enough to realize that they both suck balls. Powerlink was slow as sh1t all the time and dsl was not much better than a dial up. It's because adelphia keeps signing up users faster than their system can handle. Verizon is the same way. My Buffalo broadband experience was very poor. I'm glad i'm back to my old area using Time Warner Cable... now that's some nice broadband!

I have time warner here. Had it for about two months. so far it has only been unavailable twice. Once for two days and once for like 12 hours. It has NEVER been slow. If I am connected to a fast server I can easily get 300kB. Damn that upload cap though!

Thanks for the info, they are installing that were I live now and I was thinking of getting it since there is nothing else out there comparable to it. They say they will be rolling DSL out there in July and dial-up sucks big time.

Yeah, I was going to sign up for it too, but they pissed me off. I called the day I moved back home, because my buddy that lives across the street said it was available. Adelphia told me cable was available in my area, so I decided to call them back the next day and order it (after I checked my calander). Called the next day, found out I couldn't get it in my area...which annoyed me slightly.

Then, about a week later, my buddy IM'ed me asking if I got the flier about the service in the mail. I hadn't, so I ran over there and grabbed his flier, went home and called em again. They told me again it wasnt available. I asked why they sent out fliers, and the women said "Oh, all area's that have adelphia cable get those fliers, some just can't get powerlink."

Oh well, dialup isn't THAT bad. . .

I am on Adelphia in NY too, and I agree, it sucks. The other day, an internet speed test showed my cousins speed as 7k/s, and my downloads were at 500 bytes/sec. Half the time you just hang, and when I am in a game I get alot of connection problems. All in all, I would not recommend it to anyone.

Hey now.....I use adelphia and it works great (well, most of the time). Sure they have their rough spots here and there, but the majority of the time it works fine.

Of course I'm in PA so I don't know how much of a difference that makes.

Actually, I did a comparison at a speed testing site, I cannot remember which one. But Adelphia in PA was reported as very good, while NY's was reported at horrible by customers.

 

Well, I just got a credit for the $100 bill sitting here.
I do not believe that the issues with their network can take so long to address.
They will not be receiving my money until that DNS is up more then 30% of the time.
Pathetic!

They are now offering in downtown buffalo, special deal of $19.95 a month for powerlink.

we currently do not have any form of cable or dsl service where I live.
but Adelphia is getting ready to offer cable modems sometime soon.

Adelphia Powerlink is run by the biggest bunch of assmonkeys to grace the earth other than the Verizon DSL assmonkeys. In fact, between the two it is a veritable assmonkey olympics.

Powerlink was down to 38k downloads, 6% packet loss, and 300ms pings for A WEEK. Every time I called, after a ONE hour wait, they would tell me they were working on it. They suck DEEZ 2 NUTS.

I've used Adelphia's cable modem service for 8 months. There were some problems with the service going down during the first two months but since January it's been clear sailing with them. And, thanks to all the credits I kept demanding for lost service, I didn't actually start paying until April.

I switched to cable modem after using GTE/Verizon DSL for over a year. And I can add to the negative feedback about Verizon's DSL. Connections were hit-and-miss, tech support was totally inept and their customer service people are an incredibly cavalier bunch. When it became clear to me that they didn't give a rat's rearend about retaining me as a customer I fired them.

tantos: I'm surprised Adelphia doesn't offer the modem service in Anahiem, as I'm in the San Fernando Valley. Do they have plans to put it in down your way?
