How is your PUR water filter lasting you? It's got an indicator thingy that's supposed to turn red when the filter life is spent, but mines lose flow way before that phase and I have to replace the filter every two months. What the hell is wrong with this thing? They phased out PUR Select so I'm stuck with Plus or Ultimate and they're like $17 a piece.

I have a Brita, I haven't had to change it yet, I've had it for about three months.

He has the faucet mount filter. I have been thinking of getting one soon.

It could be your water. Do you use the filter all the time or just when you are getting a glad of water?

My brita has a limit to how much water it can filter as well as a time limit. You are supposed to replace it after 100 gallons or three months.

Are you using the filter to filter a lot of water?

It depends on the "deosits" in your local water.

My Teledyne WaterPik end-of-faucet filter works about 3 months on San Diego's "soft" water - only 2 months in the Desert's highly mineralized water.

I ALSO use a Brita pitcher TOGETHER with the faucet filter . . . it lasts a lot longer that way.

I don't use a lot and that's why I'm pissed. I'm seriously considering just buying filtered water. There are water fill stations around here. You buy the bottle first, then you just bring it back in and refill it for 30cents. Probably cheaper than going through these $17 filter every 2 or 3 months.

We use a facet mount Pur. It can vary in the amount of time before it goes out. During the winter months we seem to get alot more of the brown water than in the summer and the filters only last at the most two months. In the summer they can last up to four months. I think alot of it depends on the water you have. The water here seems to have alot of hard minerals which will use up the filter fast.

If you are having that much trouble maybe you should contact the company and tell them what has been happening. Their product isn't doing what it's supposed to do. Maybe they will offer to replace it or help you fix it yourself.

If they offer to do nothing or if you choose not to do that then getting water from a filling station when you run out might be your best bet.

Hope everything works out for you! :)

You can get a 3 pack of the pur (blue) filters for about $29 at BJ's wholesale. They sell the 3 pack of Brita's for about $32.
We tend to go through filters every 45 days so I picked up a pur filter to try once this last brita filter runs out.
Are the Pur filters worse than the Brita or better?
