WMV-HD stuff ????

Yeah...the high-def Windows Media Video content...I don't know if you've seen any of the clips on Microsoft's site or not. Basically though, the sound is not encoded as Dolby Digital or DTS, so only stereo would get sent out over a digital connection (unless you had an encoder of course).

Oh...... No I haven't heard of Windows Meida high def content.... but I literally HATE Windows Media Players anyway and avoid them like the plague.

But............. can the X-mystique encode the Windows Media Player High Def content to be "sent out" digitally (Coaxial S/PDIF or Optical) to powered 5.1/7/1 speakers or 5.1/7/1 HT Receiver as TRUE DD ???

Yes...the X-Mystique can encode DD 5.1 in real-time....which is basically why I want one. :)

Ah, thanks for the answer. So that X-Mystique converts the signal, right? If so then I think I know what will be my next purchase. I was always a little confused why my receiver switched over to pro logic since I always have it set at dd for watching movies. Thanks again guys.

What card are you using now? Are you hooked up digitally? As synth said, if you're hooked up digitally, DVD movies should be giving you real DD sound already.

I use a Catalina Turtle Beach right at the moment which has the optical output and once my new subwoofer comes in I'm going to enjoy the crap out of some movies. I want one for games though, must have for myself...

Wait... is the output from WM HD just stereo (even in analog mode?)... If it's stereo for digital output and stereo for analog output, I still think you're stuck with stereo output from the X-Mystique.

We'll just have to let Synth buy it and try it for us :p
