Anyone upgrading from a Note II for 1080p?

I see somebody local has a Sony Xperia ZL (new quad core 1080p phone) for $520 - for sale.

The 1080p screen intrigues me.

I know I will lose a lot of Dev support I enjoy with my Note II - Also that fact that it's already been stated to get Android 5.0

Is the 1080p Screen worth the jump over?

Another plus is the Xperia will be much better outdoors - but at the cost of viewing angles which is minor to me.

Camera's should be quite comparable.

I will be going from a Note 2 to most likely an S4 when it comes out. 1080P screen definitely plays a part in that, but it's not the one and only reason.

I'm waiting for the Note 3 myself (sold my Note 1 and running on a One X I managed to get cheaper in the meantime).

Unless Samsung messes up, it should be a monster and will refine out any bugs in the GS4.

I'm very happy with my Note II - Just get the itch to try something new once in a while.

I think I'd miss my Note II after a while - and its more than fast enough.

I'll keep it and wait for the Note III.

I'll go in and look at the 1080p Screens and probably go meh. It's really all that intrigues me to switch.

I personally just don't see the benefit of a 1080p screen at such a small size. (Relatively speaking, that is). Not that I'd mind having it in an otherwise awesome device, but I don't see the need in going out of my way for it.

To me it's not much different than having a 1080p 19" TV in my kitchen. Absolutely unneccessary. Probably even less necessary actually in a cell phone. To take most advantage of it that means I just need to store or stream even larger files and apps. Bleh.

Nah I'll wait for the 1080p screen on the Note 3. Battery life for new phones have jumped to near Note 2 levels. Exciting for battery life on the Note 3.

I'm hoping the Note 3 will have Maxx level battery life. I don't think I'll need to upgrade phones again.

I'm going from Note 2 to HTC One -- Will probably upgrade again when Note 3 comes out.

I think I'll sell my NII when the III comes out. Honestly though, I'm fine with a 720p screen - I don't really see the benefits of higher resolutions on phones, like you can with computer monitors.

Really curious on how this works out for you. I've been eyeing the HTC One but usually talk myself down when I swap another battery. I don't particularly need this feature but damn if it isn't nice.

I'll more than likely swap for the Note 3.

Keeping my Note 2 for now, will probably wait for the Note 3. I actually have a upgrade which seems so odd since i have upgraded phones 5x since my last upgrade.

Note 3 w/ 1080p + Exynos 5 Octa + LTE + KLP (Android 5.0+) would be the ultimate Android phone of the year.

I bit on the ZL

I went in store and held one and I can't believe it's a 5" screen- It feels like holding a S3. So compact and solid with such a beautiful screen. Almost no bezel on the sides. I only played with it for a few minutes - But I was impressed.

The screen, at least in store, looked sharper than any screen I've ever seen... and yes viewing angles are not the best - but I almost always look directly at it anyways.

Store Rep said battery life on them is comparable to HTC One and Nexus 4 from what he's received for Feedback so far.

I bit on one - Got a brand new one sealed for $515 Shipped to my Door - should be here Tuesday.

Now just need to sell my Note II to offset it.

I love the Note II - but at times It was awkward in pocket and I am outdoors quite a bit in the summer and its almost impossible to use outside. I've always prefered LCD over AMOLED and have stated it many times over the past couple years - although the Note II was the best AMOLED screen yet.

The 1080p Screen and Compact size and feel in hand sold it to me - It feels so much smaller than the Note II when really its not too much. I hope I didn't make a bad decision. Just hope Sony Releases KLP on it - but to be honest - I rarely keep a phone longer than a year anyways.

Sony's version of "Multi-view" seemed better to me too... and the Camera will only get better with updates as its Sony's latest and greatest sensor.

I'm very happy with my Note 2. It will probably take the Note 3 being released before I consider something new. I was actually very happy with the S3, but the larger screen, quad core, battery and S-pen are a huge upgrade.

Not only phones had by far the better LCD tech and pixel density than regular PCs, they also have the higher resolution now.

That is something I won't have seen coming from let's say, 2003.

Eh... I think it's one of those things you could have said was coming eventually, but no idea if it would have been 2013 or 2015 or 2023.

I'm actually far more interested in the fact that Windows RT is basically running phone hardware. At this point, there's nothing stopping your phone from becoming your only computing device for 99% of people out there. Just hook your phone up to a monitor and BOOM, fully functional computer.

Posted part of this in the HTC One thread, but played with the phone for about 15 min today at an AT&T store.

Part of me thought 1080p screens were a gimmick, but in just a few seconds, I ran across noticeable differences. Makes me look forward to the 1080p screen on the Note 3.

----------
RE: HTC One

- the 1080p screen is great, viewing tiny text on a non-mobile optimized site was amazingly sharp. The same text on my Note 2 was slightly pixelated, though I could see much more of the site on screen.

- the screen wasn't as bright as I expected it to be. Set at max brightness, it didn't seem very bright in store, and not as bright as the Note 2 screen at less than max brightness. Still more than sufficient however.

At first I thought 1080p sounds like a gimmick, but once I saw the screen on the HTC DNA -- It is absolutely gorgeous and completely noticable, I _needed_ to have it. Hence, HTC One :)
