Anyone try those wireless storage devices at home for mobile devices?

I have a friend that doesn't use computers just her tablets and Iphone. She is running out of space and I suggested she should back up the photos since she can easily lose them since they are only on the phone.

So I see there are devices that can be hooked up to your home network and store your personal media from all your devices. Anyone give these a try?

I'm looking to see which ones are easy to use and your thoughts.

If your router has USB port, just hookup an external HDD and copy files over? Not sure how technical your friend is.

Setting up Google Drive/ Dropbox / Skydrive / icloud would probably be easier.

Shes isnt that technical but I think I she would be fine with one of these devices..

Which app allows a smartphone to see wireless external HDD? My bro is running into the same issue. He has an iPhone 6.
