Anyone Try This?

I want to try this new software program I came across called SpeedFan. Here is a brief description of it: "SpeedFan is a freeware program that monitors fan speeds and temperatures in computers with a known monitoring chip. Its main feature is that it can control the speed of the fans according to the temperatures inside your pc, thus reducing noise and power consumption. Currently the only recognized (and useful) chips are WINBOND W83782D, which is found in ABIT BP6, and WINBOND W83627HF. If you've got any other motherboard with the same chip, this program is for you." The problem is that I have an ASUS CUSL2-C motherboard and not sure whether it has the chips mentioned here for the program to work. Does anyone know if it does or not? Would greatly appreciate a response. Thanks.

PS: The original link to which I found this info is here should anyone be interested.

I've been lookin for a prog like this for months. It allows me to change the speed of only my processor fan tho. Need to find that that'll allow chassis and case fan changes. Surprised there hasn't been more implementation out there with mobo makers and their software for such purposes

SpeedFan is a great prog, used it to monitor my temps and hd's on my MSI K7TPro2 RU. Doesn't work with my P4B533-E though as it doesn't support the chips. It might work with the CUSL2 though as it's an older chipset, why don't you just try if it works?

"...why don't you just try if it works?"

Before doing so I woul like to know if it will in fact work with the motherboard I have. I cannot seem to find any info on whether the required chips are there. Did you simply install it and run it without checking out if in fact you had the requisite chips?

You can if you want. It will not harm your system. If it can't find the requisite sensors it will simply not work and you can uninstall it; no harm, no foul.

EDIT:Upon further review, don't bother. Unless someone has better info than I have gathered, it won't work on your board. I checked the Motherboard Monitor 5 site, info on the ASUS ASUS CUSL2-C board shows it to have the AS99127F primary sensor, not the one you need. Consequently it does not use Winbond either.

Like Buz2b said it can do no harm and if it doesn't work just uninstall it. And if you get freak temps nanyangview it shows that it doesn't work.

Yeah I installed it without checking as such monitoring progs can't do any harm and if it hadn't worked I would just have removed it.

Hmm, I feel like I've said the same thing a couple of times now
