Yes, I checked this review before (and just did it more thoroughly again), but couldn't find the monitoring chip. I also checked the manual, and didnt get a hint to where it could be.
Frankly, I'm not so sure myself what to look for.
I tried to compare with http://www2.lm-sensors.nu/~lm78/supported.html.
From this list I'd say that Winbond (Wxxxxx), National Semiconductor (LMxx) and Analog Devices (ADMxxxx) chips could be quite frequent.
if you want fan speed control, the msi rs480 board does have it (i have had it, and will be getting one in probably soon again for a build, possibly my linux box if i can find a cpu).
Well, I'd like to play around with vcore undervolting, and as far as I know, the msi doesn't support this.
